    Disturbing New Symptom

A little backstory....Little Bear started having a relapse of his aggressive/violent behavior about 6 days ago which was a shock. We tried to raise his Seroquel then lowered it back down which was the only medication change we made. He was put on Celexa which really helped the aggression and we had one...

Just found this group and SO grateful!

Hi, everyone! I am a mother to 2 difficult children, both girls, age 11 and 5. I feel like I am truly losing my mind. difficult child 1 (who will actually be 11 in 10 days) just started her third week of partial hospitalization. It looks like we will end up with diagnoses of ADHD-combined and ODD, with heavy emphasis on...

    difficult child Very Destructive

He's always broken alot of things in his tantrums/rages, but recently it's the hood over the oven- He hit it, and a couple screws fell out and now it's loose, one telephone and the earpiece to another, screen door, dresser drawer (kicked it), and probably more things that i can't think of right...

Figured out why I'm nervous about Lithium

Yay! I know what was bugging me. Now, try and follow my logic (sometimes I confuse myself - I swear, running in cricles does that to me!). difficult child 1 goes into psychiatric hospital for medication assessment two Thurs. ago. They add tenex, increase trileptal and start lowering risperdal. They call me the following...

    New Tic?

Several years ago when master was evaluted at the autism clinic they said he had a throat clearing tic. It comes and goes, I haven't heard him do it in quite some time, at least a year. Though because of his chronic allergies much of the time it's a legitemate response to increased mucus...

    Interesting behavior today...

so, as I mentioned in my other post, M was taken off Tenex cold turkey last night...so, his last dose was yesterday morning, around 11 am (he took it late). Now, he was put on the Tenex to help control some impulsivity and to keep him from "boiling over" during rages/meltdowns because the psychiatric hospital...

    psychiatrist yelled at me

I felt like a little girl getting a scolding. She was upset that I didn't call. SRL, you were right, I should have. She said that the kind of anxiey difficult child was experiencing, especially at night was not to be tolerated. I guess what happens is that you get sooo used to challenging and odd...

    Manster medication Check

I'm on my way to psychiatrist for medication check. I plan to ask for a referral to a therapist who works with addictive eating stuff. I feel so powerless and responsible. I remember when I was young and ignorant and I would see overweight kids and think "what a horrible parent" they had. I have always had a...

    Tenex Results

I would have to give this medication a thumbs up. It has done what it was supposed to do and I don't see any visible side effects. It has helped increase d's frustration tolerance and decreased the meltdowns. It has done nothing for the anxiety. I still have him on 5mg of Celexa, afraid to...

    Slowly watching irritability increase...

So, M has been on Celexa for about 6 weeks total (4 wks at 20 mg's) and 4 1/2 weeks on the Tenex. I'm slowly seeing his level of tolerance decrease...he's becoming more irritable and I'm starting to see a return to the less stable M that we knew before the medications. We're not *at that point* yet...

    What do I do?

Ok...so, things were going rather well with M, as you all know, with the exception of the increasing irritability and building bottled anger, which we addressed with the psychiatrist and he advised us to increase the Tenex and said that we should see an immediate improvement. Fast forward to today...

    Anxiety Is Fun

That was sarcasm for those that didn't pick up on it lol. Talked for about an hour with Dyl's therapist today. It's pretty obvious the Concerta isn't doing anything but making his anxiety worse LOL! LOL! Lucky me, eh? Did I say this was the last drug we were gonna try? Hmmm Don't remember...

    psychiatrist's verdict is....

increase the Tenex to 2 mg a day (1 mg BID from .5 mg BID). I didn't see THAT one coming. He's pretty confident we'll see an improvement in M's increased irritability, lowered tolerance for environmental triggers, and daily outbursts within 3 days to a week. Me, I'm not so sure. Then, it...

    Update on M...

So...M's out of control "manic" like behavior started Thursday night (after his last dose of Tenex was Thursday morning)...it continued all weekend...Friday included jumping all over the furniture, non-stop movement, speed-talking, exaggerated fake laughter, not being able to go to sleep because...

    Why do they do this?

I just found, stashed away in S's room, dozens of her medications which she has been hiding. They were Celexas, Seroquels (which she just got taken off of a couple weeks ago), and Tenex's. She claims they were from a long time ago when she went on a medication strike (years ago), but I know that's not so...

    Discharge Meeting Today...Any ideas/advice?

So...1 pm is my discharge meeting at the psychiatric hospital to go over our discharge plan for M (and Lord help me, I have to bring my unruly 3 1/2 yr old along because I can't find anyone to watch him!). Here's the tentative plan and what I know about the situation and my concerns (I will find out more at 1...

Update on 5 yr old daughter

Hi, remember me (the overnight change). We went for the second blood test for strep, and it was negative. I know the doctor is not up on PANDAS, and I still think he might have missed something. We have an appointment for a full physical next friday, and I am going to ask for a neuro workup...

difficult child manic after right temporal lobectomy

Hello, This is my first time posting on this forum. I was wondering if anybody has input about our situation. In Sept. 2006, our difficult child, who was 13 at the time, had a temporal lobectomy to remove the seizure focus. The surgery appears to have been successful. Before then, he was already...

nausea on first day of tenex

Hi, My 6 year old son really needs medications for inability to keep it together (freaking out). So they are starting him on Tenex. Last night was his first dose. This morning he is running to the bathroom because he feels like he is going to throw up and is weepy. Does this type of nausea go away...

What To Do When There Are No More medications 2 Try?

Honestly, I think we've done most of them. This is kind of a follow up to the ADHD thing. We did meet with psychiatrist on Friday, and she was gracious (as always) to go ahead with my thoughts on re-trying the Concerta (just one more time, even though we've tried it two or three times, I keep hoping...
