    psychiatrist appointment

I really don't know what I think about this psychiatrist. She spoke a few more words this time other than, "Ahhhh. Ok.", but....just but. She put difficult child on clonidine (sp?) 0.1mg to help with sleep. Said difficult child could take it with the 100mg trazodone because difficult child says the trazodone isn't working all that...

New here, ready to hang my son by his toenails.

First, I'm not exactly sure how I found this group and my son does not have any diagnosis but after reading through many of your posts I think this is the right place for me to find support, which I am desperately needing at this moment. My husband and I have 4 children. Our oldest son is 14...

    Sleeping through Adderall?

So difficult child's been on Adderall XR 10 mgs for 1 1/2 weeks. THe idea was to get her up earlier and for her to feel motivated and have some energy. I give it to her around 7 am and she sleeps for another 5+ hours! How can she sleep on that? She's taking 20 mgs celexa and 50 mgs trazadone at night...

Need advice and opinions - psychiatrist just added adderall

I talked to the psychiatrist just now about how difficult child is still really depressed. She's not going to school, is in bed all day, feels nothing is worth doing, doesn't see friends, etc. She's been on Celexa for 6 weeks and it hasn't been helping at all. She's been on 20mg. He said we should try 30mg. He...

Meeting at school tomorrow and I'm terrified

I'm meeting tomorrow with the counselor and vice principal of difficult child's school, and I don't know what will happen, but I don't know what to say. difficult child has barely gone to school at all this semester. I've posted before about her problems, but now she's really bad and almost never leaves the house...

    psychiatrist appointment

Apparently there was some huge misunderstanding with the psychiatrist's office. I thought that I was supposed to go the first time alone, and then schedule difficult child. That didn't seem weird to me as that's how it's almost always been with every mental health professional she's seen. But, no. I get there...

    Increased Appetite with Risperdal

I thought Risperdal was supposed to increase appetite and cause weight gain? My difficult child has been on it for about a week now and I haven't seen increase in eating. This is the one side effect I want him to have because the Adderall he's on suppresses his appetite. Do I have to wait longer to see...

    medications

We have tried a number of medications for difficult child. The psychiatrist's we have seen always go back to suggesting antipsychotics, but I'm hesitant for many reasons one of which is...don't you end up having to up the dose and up the dose and then add more medications to counteract the side effects and eventually it stops...

    medications

Its a long story but I will get straight to the point. My boyfriend's niece is a difficult child, she is 14 years old and has showed signs of being bi-polar since shes a young child. Her parents had her on a low dose of prozac and she seemed to be doing great. 4 years ago she was taken from the parents and placed...

Abilify, created angelic, attention focused twin??

The babysitter just called me and asked, "does difficult child have a nice twin"? Yesterday and today he has been a totally different kid. Yesterday he NEVER cussed, NEVER lost it and NEVER went into meltdown. HE was sweet and nice to her ALL DAY, HELPED a little boy who was having a tantrum in the...

    Stopping a hysterical difficult child....how??

We all know that once our difficult child's become irrational, there's no way of getting through to them until they're calm. But I need some advice on the following. difficult child starts crying hysterically over the smallest thing, which is normally in his control to fix or do if he just did it. For example: this...

    fireworks issues?

Not sure what the issue was, but last night was a little scary for Missy. We went for ice cream. Mighty Mouse didn't finish his, but Missy did (of course, the human disposal..lol). She's been really good the past several days, so I let her finish it. Then we went and parked in front of some...

History: Abusive Biodad and difficult child 1. difficult child 2 was diagnosis'ed BiPolar (BP) at age 9 (not 'official on paper'but treatment for it anyway) due to behaviors and mood swings, also put on IEP for emotional lability and dysgraphia. Bad Idea!!

We met with the MST therapist yesterday and she did one on one with both difficult child and easy child separately away from the house. Then decided that we would have parenting one as well which was going fine until difficult child decided to get involved in the conversation so we had to send him to his room. WE have not...

    Question for Bipolar Adults

I've written this 20 different ways, and I know up-front it's a pretty impossible answer - so I'll just do my best. We're going through medication adjustments since the bipolar moods have definitely come back out again - and I don't know what's the extent of what the medications should do. We've caught...

    Medication change

Today we went to see the psychiatric doctor and they changed his medication from abilify to depakote. Does anyone have expierence with depakote? I really hope it helps with his outbursts at school, although today was a good day. I hope it doesn't take too long to kick in...:anxious:

Thoughts please...Dr took difficult child off most of his medications

Our new Psychiatrist took difficult child off of everything but the following: 7.5mg Abilify - AM 7.5mg Abilify - PM .05mg Clonidine - PM The psychiatric didn't like difficult child on depakote and lithium due to the possible damage it can cause. He thought the trazadone (50% in the am, and 50% at night was weird). So...

    psychiatrist

psychiatrist just added abilify to the tegretol and lithobid. I told him I had made a parental decision and decided to try a few days without the naltrexone and things are looking good on that front. He told me that was fine- just keep some around in case cutting starts back. He also said it was ok to...
