Absolutely Horrifying

It's not just whether there is ice on the wings; ifd the ice has changed the shape of the wings drastically, the aerofoil doesn't behave as it should. The pilot may have been compensating for ice build-up but a sudden change (perhaps even ice breaking off) could suddenly change the shape of the wing cross-section, and such a sudden change, on one side only, can be very hard to adapt to.

It's still conjecture - they were discussing it on Aussie TV last night and this morning. I'm so sorry about te man that died on the ground also, but glad his wife and child survived.

Please keep my parish rector in your thoughts; she left immediately after services to attend to the remains of those victims recovered thus far. The faith-based community in WNY has really pulled together for the victims, their loved ones and those residents most acutely affected.

This just came in--very significant:

BUFFALO, N.Y. -A federal aviation official says the plane that crashed into a house near Buffalo, killing 50 people, was on autopilot when it went down, a violation of airline policy.

That's wonderful--and difficult--for your rector, TM. She's got to be a strong lady. More power to her.
