An interesting take on what creates healthy family.

It dovetails well with detachment theory, and how and why adopting detachment theory in our own parenting does sometimes make a difference for our troubled kids.

    Thanks for this, Cedar!

I read the excerpt and I am going to get that book.

Reminds me of something I hear all the time from parents--I just want my child to be happy.

But think about it--is happiness really the most important thing?

Maybe we should be more like parents pre-WWII--who were more concerned with their child being a good, moral person, rather than a 'happy' person.

I know my older kids would not have accomplished what they have accomplished if they spent all their time pursuing happiness.
