Rick was admitted today with a collapsed lung. They inserted an air tube and he is on morphine. Even with the pain medications, he is in a great deal of pain. He could use your good thoughts and prayers.

thanks,

That can be very painful. Did they give any reason as to why his lung collapsed? I hope he will have a speed recovery.

I talked to Angela this morning. Rick was doing worse last night. They re-x-ray'd his lung and found it had collapsed further. They are doing some kind of suction through the tube now. He didn't get any sleep last night. This morning he told Angela that he wanted his "mommy" last night. See? We are all still needed when it comes down to it. He will be there at least until tomorrow.

The lung specialist this morning said that Rick fits all three criteria that could cause a lung to collapse (besides an injury). He has asthma, he had a bad cough for several days, plus he is a tall and thin man.

Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers. They are appreciated.

UPDATE:
The dr. removed the air tube from Rick's lung this afternoon. They are waiting for the results from one final x-ray. If everything is OK, he'll be going home tonight.

Just wanted all to know that Rick did go home and is doing OK. But now Angela has the flu and is stuck taking their new puppy outside even though she is sick because Rick has to stay indoors until mid-week. The windchill is 27 degrees below zero this morning. Rick is not to breathe in that cold of air, plus he is supposed to rest.

They live on the third floor of a condo apartment building. Not too convenient to take out a puppy.

Glad to hear Rick is home & okay, thanks for letting us know.
* Yep, it's a tad-bit chilly!! I feel bad for Angela! All I have to do to let my dog out is open the patio door.....Quite the trick as it's mostly froze shut! *

Hope she feels much better, very soon!

Peace

Glad your son-in-law is home. Sorry to hear about Angela feeling ill. Hopefully the new puppy doesn't like the wind chill either and wont want to go out often.
