Get it - not lasagna? It is very close, but not baked and no lasagna noodles.

Here it is:

make a meat sauce
Campanelli (she said they look like a tornado)
Cook the pasta el dente - when draining keep on laddle of the starch water and put in a bowl.
Add to the bowl of starch water:
a large container or ricotta
a handful of shredded mozarella
a handful of grated parmesan
mix it up
put in the pan with the el dente pasta
put in meat sauce
warm it all up again
(add whatever italian seasonings you like)

Voila! Not-Sagna!

P.S. - she made me add the 'Aunt Dana' in front of the title for my difficult children sake so that when I made it she would know it came from my sister. difficult child likes her cooking and hates mine!

She said her boys insist on it once a week!

I made something very similar just last night. I use Campanelli a lot instead of making lasagne. It's kind of like making baked ziti (although that apparently is a NJ/New York thing, I've found).

Roll With It
I use the twisty pasta or bow ties and cottage cheese instead of the ricotta and we LOVE this. My husband will eat an entire 9" casserole dish if he skipped lunch. It it wonderful!
