I LOVE Lake Superior.

She's a lovely Lake in all her moods (some of which are terrifying). Stu and I spent our honeymoon on the Boundary Waters, in fact.

Superior, WI is the only place I've ever been where I've gotten that feeling from that Lake. That includes several towns I visited as a child that were active iron mining or port towns: dirty and shabby and industrial.

I moved back down to this area in part because I could be close to Lake Michigan. I'm a child of the Great Lakes and most comfortable close to them.

I understand. I love water. That even being at the lake in the town of Superior was depressing speaks volumes about the atmosphere of the city. The lake is usually soothing. Much must be soiling that town if parking by the water did not bring good feelings.
