Calling all Grandma's-Time for the Club to meet

We havent had a report on the kidlets in a few months and it is almost time for the 2006 crew to start turning 3...can you believe it!!!!

It simply boggles my mind that our babies are turning into ..well...preschoolers. How did everyone do with the Terrible Two's? We have really sailed through them with fairly calm seas. I have a feeling though that rougher waters are ahead with Miss Hailie...lol.

I am pleased to announce that Keyana is pretty much completely potty trained during the day but she is still in pull-ups for night time. She has mostly dry nights but we still use them because of occasional wet nights. It wont be long. She let it be known to us that she was playing us to get to sleep with Papa and Grandma and that she slept in her own bed at her house so we put her bed in our room and she now goes to sleep in her own bed when she stays over. Good girl...lol.

We really have very few problems with her. She is a very happy, calm child. She listens well and follows directions with no problems. She sometimes will look at you with that glimmer in her eyes like she wants to disobey but a stern voice gets her moving. So not like my boys...lol. So not like her cousin...lol. She talks up a storm though she is somewhat behind in speech I think but all my kids had speech impediments so I am not so worried. We can understand her. She is girly as all get out and loves her babies but she also loves to watch football and Nascar...(wace caws Grandma...wace caws!)

Now Hailie...lol. Hailie is full of fire and spunk. She loves the word NO and uses it frequently. Her feet are her favorite weapon with hands a close second. Everything is NO, MINE. She is spoiled plumb rotten. She cant go to sleep for a nap unless she is driven around in the car..lol. She has her parents wrapped. We dont see her enough to be as close to her as we are to Keyana so she is kinda standoffish with us. We try but her personality is not a cuddly kid. She is a speaking pretty well though for her age.

Here are some pics:

They're GORGEOUS little girls, Janet! And it sounds like you are thoroughly enjoying them ... that's the very best part of granny-dom.

What beautiful girls Janet!!!

But, um....as a Certified Car Seat Technician....ahem....I'm compelled (sorry...it comes with the course! LOL) to mention.....

The car seat picture? That seat belt should NOT be under her arm. If there's a crash, the belt, assuming it even keeps her in the seat, will almost certainly cause internal damage with it in that position.

I can't see from the picture, but do you have the belt ran through that little plastic loop thingy under the head rest on the side? That will help position it in the right place. (The same place it hits grown ups) If that doesn't do it, I believe that type of seat has a handle on the back that you can use to adjust the height of the back of the seat. The belt should lay across her chest without rubbing her neck and not down too far on her shoulder.

If you have any questions, feel free to pm me.

Again, sorry but once you take this course and become certified, it's all you can do to stop yourself from being obnoxious and even approaching perfect strangers to tell them what they are doing wrong with their car seats. :916blusher:

Keyana has the most gorgeous eyes I've ever seen!!! She is such a little beauty! You can see her personality. Hallie.......now that one looks onary as sin. LOL Cute as a button though......but onary. I think her parents are going to have their hands full soon when the 2nd one comes along. :D ;)

I'll post about mine shortly.......Six takes awhile and I'm in the middle of cooking supper at the moment.

Mustang....We do make her wear the seatbelt across her shoulder but she was just sitting in the car when that picture was taken. I just got that seat about a month ago and she adores it. I really dont know if she was quite old enough or big enough for it but the weight and height said she was but I really dont think she was. She is right at 38 inches tall now and her old seat was getting a bit tight on her. She also had learned how to unbuckle her old snaps and while I think she probably can figure out how to unbuckle a regular seatbelt....she cant quite reach it yet without some major contortions. What I dont like is this seat doesnt lock in like the other seats did. Its really more of a high backed booster seat only.

Ah...gotcha. As for the seat not locking in....don't worry about it. The seat belt will lock and hold her and the seat in place just as it would hold you in place.

Just out of curiosity, how much does she weigh?

Can you be a member of the grandma's Club if your grandhcild isn't born yet? At least the last time I checked, he wasn't! The day isn't over yet though.

Last Wednesday (five weeks till her due date) she went to the doctor - was told that she was starting to dilate and to make sure her bags were packed, that he wasn't going to wait another five weeks. After her appointment her back started hurting and she went back to the doctor. They checked her and said she was 3 to 4 cm dilated, and put her on a monitor that said she was having regular contractions every seven minutes! But the contractions stopped. She went back this Wednesday (4 weeks till her due date) and they said she was 4 cm dilated - he's "done" and ready to go, and it could be any time in the next week or so. They estimated that he's already 7 to 7-1/2 pounds (4 weeks before his due date). They're not worried if he's a little early, said he's fine. When I was in that stage, I took a long ride down a very bumpy road in an old pickup truck with no shock absorbers, but I don't know if I'd recommend that to her! She's at that stage where it hurts to sit, hurts to walk, hurts to stand, and can't get comfortable even lying down ... but it won't be long now!

JJ will be 3 in June. He loved Thomas the Train. In the pictures I am reading his favorite book---the Thomas the Train catalog that lists all the trains and all the little accessories that go with them---We read through it twice that day---all 24 pages.

Mom and Dad are moving to a new neighborhood soon and we hope to register JJ in preschool in the fall.

He is not too excited about a new baby sister in May. In fact, he will not even acknowledge anything about a new baby.

He loves his Big Momma and PeePa and insists on calling us several times a week. I'm ready for him to learn to dial the phone himself.

He can recite his alphabet, recognize all the letters, count items, add them together, and he loves to sing "In the jailhouse now." He loves all sports and will sit still through any sporting event fascinated. He goes to a lot of college games with his dad.

What adorable kids. For some reason I'm glad I'm not a member of the grandma club (that I know of). I like to look and play...but then return.

Enjoy!

donna you're an official member pending. lol :D But if you have an ultrasound picture you wanna share......hey......we're all eyes. ;)

Ok, now bear with me.......

I'll start with the oldest, Kayla who'll be 9 in June. (OMG!) She is such a chatter box and is now uber proud her Momma will let her watch Hanna Montanna as that makes her "all grown up". This is not the world's greatest picture as it was taken with K's laptop camera, but it's the most recent.

Alex will be 8 in June. K just went to his IEP meeting. His teacher is very proud of him. He's worked hard this year. He is now finally counting up to 20 I think, can say his alphabet without messing up too much, is beginning to write his letters and can recognize a few. This boy has a firm grip on both my heart and soul. Special doesn't begin to discribe him. He radiates that pure innocense that so many disabled children have.:D And heck, he thinks I'm Beautiful!! :D

http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd204/Lisaisqueen/Grandkids/Alex2009.jpg

Darrin, ok so he has a rather firm grip on his Nana's heart as well. lol He starts kindergarden in the fall and just had his first soccer game yesterday. So adorable. But I'm afraid he's hit that onary age. But still super sweet to Nana. Darrin is already reading and writing and doing simple math problems.

This is Darrin and Aubrey at Easter:

Evan just turned 3. And I've no doubt he's full blown difficult child, most likely more severe than Alex. Severe sensory issues. This is the family streaker. K has great difficulty keeping clothes on the child long enough to go anywhere with him. A sweetie........but OMG a handfull and a halfF!!:faint:

http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd204/Lisaisqueen/Grandkids/Snapshot_20090311_61.jpg

Aubrey will be 3 next month. She's doing pretty darn well at going potty....would be completely broke if her daddy would be consistant. She can count to 20, can sort of sing her alphabet, can sing about 2 dozen children's songs, knows her shapes and colors....and the scary part is that no one taught her any of it. She is her mother's daughter with a profound love for any animal.

And last, but certainly not least.........Brandon. Now nearly 3 months old. He looks amazingly like Darrin did as an infant.....they'll never be able to deny each other. lol He's still trying hard to laugh, but hasn't managed it. But this picture is of his first smile on camera......and guess who got him to do it?? NANA!! HA

I wish the pics of K's kids were better, but a webcam doesn't take all that great of pics.

EW OMG JJ is adorable!!! But be careful what you wish for....Darrin at 3 figured out how to speed dial Nana......and I found myself on the phone with him many times a day without his parent's knowledge. Once when they were in the middle of a heated arguement.
