Charlie Sheen, a familiar feeling?

WhymeMom?

No real answers to life..
Anybody with a tv set has probably seen the Sheen rants........ rang a familiar bell here....... Sad to see it exposed so graphically, but sure gives a face to what can happen to a person with mental health challenges. Even with all the $$$ he can't fathom he has a problem........

I think there are many families out there who recognize what they are seeing and are very glad that their child isn't famous.

On Aussie TV we had the interview played and then expert tdocs analysed it in detail.

Twilight Zone theme started playing in my head. He cured himself from drug addiction with the power of his mind??? Instantly? Because nobody gets him, he is too special, too far above anybody else.

I think the TV tdocs were saying, "Delusional, definitely. Psychotic break while on camera, obviously. Very sad and a worry."

My take on it is that drugs have induced a mental break - possibly he was already mentally ill, I don't know - but I have watched many people become wacko while coming off drugs. in my opinion they usually act better when they are on them.
He really gets me though, because he keeps talking about his "goddesses" aka his porn prostitutes that live with him - and in the same breath he talks about how wonderful his twins are and how they run around and have fun while the goddesses are there. OK really??????????
Where on earth is CPS?

It is sad to watch all his rants and delusional comments. Now apparently Christina Aguilera was just arrested for public drunkeness ... I am grateful my difficult child's issues don't play out in the public eye. That just has to be unbearable pain.

It made me sick to my stomach to watch him. I know he has a mental illness but I am sick of it. He shouldn't even be around his kids right now. My difficult child is in a manic episode right now so I am hyper sensitive. I wish the cameras would all go away from him and let him hit his bottom and do whatever it is he is going to do.

I feel sorry for his dad.

I, too, feel sorry for his parents, and his colleagues. They are bearing the brunt of his irrationality. He's way too manic to have a clue what he is doing to himself.

I find it ironic that one of his goddesses is a "former" porn star and the other is a "former" nanny. Isn't that every man's dream- to have the pure and the naughty all rolled into one (in his case, two)?

I agree with Nancy that I wish the media would walk away and let this man completely fall from grace. He is in desperate need of help.

I haven't seen it, the commercials were enough to turn me away from watching, but I hope that him decompensating so publicly will put more focus on the need for handling mental health issues early and correctly. This might be a way for people to understand better what leads to the kind of stories that make everyone say "Why didn't anyone step in and help before people got hurt?"

His twins were taken away last night. Their mother apparently filed for a restraining order. The morning news said he is going to court to try to get them back. He clearly seems to love them but, in my humble opinion, supervised visitations seem to be the only safe way to go right now. Those boys are toddlers and who knows what the heck kind of drugs he has lying around the house...

I saw one interview yesterday where he was upset that Jon Cryer and Angus (the "1/2") haven't called him. I don't know about Jon Cryer, but Angus is a kid and if he were my kid, no way would he be picking up the phone and talking to Charlie.

on the other hand, supposedly his blood and urine tests have come back clean the past few days so maybe he does have the will power to stop, at least for a short time.

Whatever, it's very sad and just goes to show that even tons of money and loving, concerned parents may not be enough to help someone who is so delusional.

Roll With It
It is very sad that such a talented and intelligent man has gotten so incredibly sick and has absolutely no interest in getting clean and healthy. Maybe if they had cut his show way back when he started showing this kind of behavior then it wouldn't have gotten this bad. He probably had people on staff at teh show who got drugs for him or helped him get them. I hope that some of his money went into trust funds for his children that he cannot touch. He is likely blowing through much if not all of the enormous amount of money that he earned per episode of his show.

Jon Cryer may be sick of having to deal with all of his rantings and ravings on the show and may want absolutely nothing to do with him other than in a professional capacity. I am glad that Angus has not been permitted to call him - no child needs that influence.

I am glad the twins have been taken from him and I hope that his visits with them are supervised for the foreseeable future. Those kids do not need to see any of this.

Thank goodness their mother woke up. She must have been so torn but he's left her no choice but to protect her children from him.

So, he{s bipolar, right_
Maybe the judge will slap him w-an order to get checked into a psychiatric hospital and on the correct medications in order to get his kids back.
I{m tempted to say that this is typical Hollywood, but considering how many people have mental illness and are in denial, I can{t really say that.
Unless he{s a Scientologist. That would explain how he got off the drugs in one second flat.
Whatever.

Hubby and I watched the 20/20 special last night, and basically sat staring at the screen with our mouths hanging open. I can't even believe his level of delusional thinking; and I'm very glad his little boys are out of there. Along with OMG running through my head, on an almost continuous loop, I was also thinking, "Where in the h* is their mother? How can she leave those babies in that situation? What is SHE thinking?"

From what I saw on the news today, the mother has drug and other problems of her own. Sad to say, but that loser Denise Richards seems like the sanest one of the bunch. Too bad Martin Sheen and his wife can't take these babies in. By the way, when I saw the video on TV, the boys looked healthy, well-fed, clean and appropriately dressed in pajama sets. It broke my heart to hear one of them say "Goodbye, Dada" and to hear Charlie say, "It's not goodbye, it's see you soon." Maybe the love of and for these babies will be the catalyst to him getting his act together, it is a terrible waste of a life.

I think he's a person, just like our kids are people. Mental illness isn't picky - and I feel sorry for his family - and I wish HIS Mom and Dad would come talk to US. THEIR kid and his rantings? Just aint that weird to me. More famous than us, Maybe a little more publiczed than most (unless you count the local news for some of us and COPS for some of us) but other than that? Not much different really -

I have seen snippets of the interviews. They say he passed pee and blood tests and was sober. If this is true, there is something seriously wrong with this man's mental capabilities. The only sober people I have ever seen who acted like that were either institutionalized or on their way there.

He threatened to chop off his wife's head and mail it in a box to her mom. No child should ever be subjected to that kind of anger or even the potential for that kind of anger.

I haven't watched any of the coverage, but just based on comments here I have to wonder...if he's gone off the deep end but he's passing his drug and alcohol tests, perhaps the years of drug use/drinking were his attempts to self-medicate, and now people are witnessing his full-blown, untreated mental illness - in whatever form he happens to have. What a mess for everyone involved.

I also have to wonder if they've been told not to reach out and offer emotional support in case it enables him more?
