Cleveland, Mayo or ???

Roll With It
My mom wants to send me to the Cleveland Clinic(CC) for a complete workup so that maybe someone can figure out why my body is doing what it is doing. I know that CC will arrange for you to see a whole group of specialists in just a few days, including doing all of the tests that they order.

Does anyone know if Mayo does this, and if so in which location? Or any other top hospitals/clinics that will do this kind of thing?

For those with any info, what can you tell me about either place?

Thanks for any insight/info!

My bet would be for the Mayo for you. sister in law to be is a professor of nursing and highly recommends the Mayo. Hopefully I will be in that general Cleveland Area soon. Fingers crossed. Looking at houses now.

Mayo does the same sort of thing. My niece's mother in law went there and they were amazing. She went to MN.

I was diagnosis/d with Ankylosing Spondolitis at the CC 30 years ago. Prior to my going to the CC, I spent months going to doctors who just shook their heads and told me, perhaps, I was imagining things (imagining that I could not move my arms from a bent position? imagine that my knee was the size of a grapefruit? imagine that my back felt like it had daggers in it?). My diagnosis took about 48 hours - two separate visits for tests, workups and a diagnosis visit. I go there for treatment for my AS (very much under control) and my eye involvment. I had both my knees replaced there in Oct. Heard great things about the Mayo, but I cannot say enough about the care I received at CCF.

Susie, I went to Mayo in MN. Good comprehensive care; be prepared to dash between appts. Mayo has been around for over 100 years. Typically you are in a motel while being tested. The entire town is set up for the clinic. Most motel's are on the shuttle route - you can catch the shuttle to all your appointments. I got a suite at less than $100/day that had a small kitchen. I made meals & rested between appointments. Caught the shuttle & off again. I stayed less than a week & came back some answers. I was to return however husband passed.

Cleveland Clinic has an incredible reputation tho I have no experience with them.

Whichever you choose I expect you'd be in good hands. If you come to Mayo in MN I can be down for a visit within an hour or so.

Timer, I have been reading this thread with interest as my husband is going to be going to Mayo in MN soon, and I was wondering if you stayed in a motel or at the hospital. He will be going for his pain issues and also his BiPolar (BP). I am guessing we will be there about a week, plus or minus a day or two. Your reply was very helpful to me. Thank you.

crazy, let me know when you hit town. I may be able to make a "detour" down to Rochester & we can meet for lunch. Just need a heads up for staffing for kt.

My husband has complete confidence in the Jacksonville, Fl. Mayo Clinic. They are on the leading edge and literally, we believe, saved his life with a then new method of treating bladder cancer. Since then he heads to Jax anytime he feels he has a health problem. They, too, are surrounded by hotels, suites, inns etc. with shuttle service always easily available. Good luck. DDD
