DNA and Dosages

I saw this on the news last night and thought of all of our kids and their troubles getting the "right" medications. They are tailoring treatments based upon DNA tests to see how their bodies are metabolizing the medications they take.

On Monday, my son's blood was drawn for this very test and sent to Mayo Clinic for analysis. As soon as we receive the results, I'll post about it.

This is so very interesting. I could see the benefits for all kinds of health issues as well - cancer being the one that comes to mind first.

There was an article in The Washington Post about this test and where it was being done. Both our pediatrician and psychiatrist suggested my son have it because he's a medication reactor. Our pediatrician called Mayo and arranged for my son's blood to be sent there.
