Don't be "Annoying" in Michigan

Wow! It makes you wonder what happened to set this off!

So who gets to decide who is 'annoying' and who is not? Those scowley-faced teenaged boys with their pants so low their butt cracks show are annoying to ME! Could they haul them all off? :D Men who look even slightly like my ex-husband annoy me too! And men with comb-overs are 'annoying' and shouldn't be allowed out in public! Someone should tell them that they're not fooling anybody! And the woman at work who can blabber on and on for two hours at a stretch without coming up for air ... NOBODY is more annoyng than she is! Think we could talk her into moving to Michigan?

thank you was just in here while I read the article.

He just told me that he guesses Wiz better not go to Michigan. I just stopped and stared at him and then laughed!

Who decides what is "annoying"? I know some things bother me that don't bug other people, and some things bother others that don't bother me. So who decides?

Is it like that old ruling about pornography - you will know it when you see it?

The ban is for anyone being annoying in public "by word of mouth, sign or motions." I suppose my Pikachu imitations might be considered annoying, as would Miss KT's scream music. No flipping a Michiganite the bird...that would be very annoying. I wonder if "sign" could mean the words on your T-shirt?

Now I'm curious...

A city attorney says there could be situations where the measure would violate freedom of speech, but that those cases will be reviewed by the city.

I'm having trouble imaging a situation where it wouldn't violate freedom of speech.

Oh, dear, it's so poorly written. They will never be able to enforce it.
Aren't there already laws about being a public nuisance?

I wonder if this is a very poorly worded attempt to get rid of 'street people', vagrants and the homeless?

I was thinking more of loud boom boxes and teenagers!
I'm sure the whole story will come out in an editorial. :)
