Hmmmm....I'll see if this one takes off. Ok, I'll start and please do join in.

I am a "fast healer" (my doctors who are pleased that I'm practically back to normal after bad accident four months ago.)

Had tons of fun at a bridal shower for niece on Sunday. Men were invited too so hubby and Jumper's boyfriend also came. Love hubby's sister and her husband (sis and bro-in-law).

Started a new passionate activity and made new friends very fast.

I can work out now!!!

All kids doing well and in close touch. Taking Sonic to the Casino soon. Seeing Jumper a lot. Going to visit Princess and Buddha Baby for a few days soon. Looking into tickets to St. Louis. Bart doing extremely well in custody battle and we are getting along great. Hubby, well, I just think he's awesome.

Nothing reallly big going on but just enjoying the little things that are priceless.

You?

I am going to Houston next weekend for a soccer tournament with my daughter and the grands. We are staying at the Omni with all the other families. It is a great deal of fun.

I gave a baby shower for a lovely young woman. I made all the decorations and designed the invitations.

I am currently playing the waiting game. Had an interview for a long term sub job, possibly till the end of the school year. I should find out if I have it either today or tomorrow. I would start on Thursday. Spent the weekend sorting clothes and generally getting organized.

It's finally raining here! We won't completely make up for the drought, but we're getting some good totals.

The kids and grands are well, as are the panther boys and my sweet Buddy.

We started the year off by going to last regular season Packer's game. Had a blast even though they lost
We don't have any big trips planned this year but will going to Colorado this summer to visit some family.

I told my husband this year I would like to take some mini vacations / long weekends and explore things that are close to us.
Of course if we can manage to sneak in a trip to the Caribbean that would be awesome!!
:beach:

Hubby and I are camping this weekend - a very cold weekend getaway for us. It is our 19th wedding anniversary on Friday so I am looking forward to some alone time. Having the family together is awesome but we need a break now and then lol.

Here is the cookie recipe, everyone.

:O)

***

375 degrees / 10 -12 minutes

1 c butter
1 1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp orange zest
2 Tblsp orange juice
1 tsp vanilla
1 Tblsp apple cider vinegar

Beat butter til fluffy. Add other ingreds one at a time, beating after each addition.

Sift into separate bowl:

3 1/2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt

Add flour mixture to butter/egg mixture beating just until mixed. Add:

2 c cranberries (halved or quartered)
1 c finely chopped pecans

Place by tablespoonful onto aluminum foil covered cookie sheet. Bake on top shelf of 375 degree oven 10 to 12 minutes.

Cookies will be very sweet. I did not frost them. Recipe recommended the cookies be drizzled with:

1/2 t orange zest
3 Tblsp orange juice
1 1/2 c shifted powdered sugar

Very pretty cookies. They smell great and freeze well.

Enjoy!

Cedar

* The apple cider vinegar interacts with baking soda, making the cookies very light. There is no vinegar taste. I use vinegar in my pastry, too.

Tanya, I love the Packers!! I grew up in Green Bay!

Nothing too exciting going on but that is a really good thing. After doing so much driving from Thanksgiving to the 2nd weekend in January it was nice to finally stay a home a weekend with nothing on the to do list!

This Friday we are going out with a bunch of friends for dinner for restuarant week. We always have a great time with this group!

Hubby and I celebrated a major wedding anniversary this past summer and even with my tricky health problems, migraines etc., we managed to take our dream cruise. I had a suitcase filled with various medications and at times it was difficult. It was still a lot of fun and well worth it! (For privacy sakes...never know who is reading, I'm avoiding saying where)

Currently, knock on wood, I just started aSpanish class. Met some really lovely people.

Our Difficult Child is still not in a great place, but knock on wood, I've noticed some teeny tiny improvements over the past year or two. Less argumentative and quick to apologize when she messes up.

We too have enjoyed quiet time lately, since we seemed overly busy during the month of Dec. and it was tiring.

Hubby and I hope to visit our p c child and his family for a week in the Spring.

Good morning!

I have just a few minutes, while my daughter is doing some work on her own.

I have a deer roast and veggies in the crock pot and a fresh snow on the ground, so things are beautiful outside, and warm and fragrant inside.

We have been slowly rebuilding our relationship with oldest step-son (hubby's son) these last few months. He seems to be truly off the horrible spice and possibly all hard drugs (still using pot and alcohol) and his attitude and maturity level is so much better! He has been working steadily for close to two years now at one job, and is taking the initiative to go out and get a different (better) one through contacts he has made through work (without quitting his current job before getting another!) All on his own, no nagging or prodding on our part. We have to remind ourselves constantly not to do this! It has to be his own idea or it won't work. History has taught us that much.

We have had him over for dinner, football, etc. and he is very pleasant to talk with, and acts the way any normal, responsible person would act. We are actually looking forward to his visits and enjoy his company.

We have to restrain ourselves against jumping in and offering help, for instance with a car, as he still doesn't have one, but we know that part of the reason he is doing so well is that he has had to figure things out for himself. This has increased his self-esteem and his belief in himself. Truthfully, we have, in the past, been guilty of not believing in him. We really didn't think he could do for himself. I am amazed at how well he is doing. We are glad he decided to go down the path of good choices, because it could have gone the other way.

Not everything with him is rosy, of course, and he still has a ways to go, but it is looking up.

I will come back later and post more, but have to get back to work.

@SomewhereOutThere & @Wiped Out , when hubby and I were at the Packers game we sat beside a couple of Vikings fans. My poor husband was getting so irritated with them and their "celebrating" At one point he said, in jest of course, "I think I'm gonna have to trip them the next time they go for a beer"
That last game was amazing. I really though we had a chance. What a Hail Mary pass that was!!

We are looking forward to Spring break when my kids and my mom and I will be taking a trip to Hawaii. I haven't been on a plane in more than 20 years. I can't wait. I have only been to Hawaii once, when I was 16 with my parents, and I loved it. I can't wait to share this experience with my kids. My mom has been promising them for literally years that "someday" she would take them to Hawaii. Every year the kids have been asking my mom when she was going to finally fulfill her promise and take them. Well a few months ago my mom finally decided my kids were old enough to tolerate taking a vacation with them. I can't wait. Especially now, with my horrid new boss and my anxiety at it's worse, I think I deserve a little get away. I am counting down the days.

daughter and I have a trip to Vegas planned for February. She is 24. Neither of us has ever been there before. We have tickets to a (LOL!) Britney Spears concert and hope to get to see Celine Dion but we're not sure if she'll be back to performing by the time we go. We are also planning to take a day bus trip to the Grand Canyon but we're not sure what to do beyond that. We are flying from the East Coast on a Wed. morning and taking the red eye home the following Monday.

Any suggestions? I am not into outdoor sports, climbing or anything like that. As for food, we are not gourmets and daughter leans more towards vegan-ish

On other notes, oldest boy finally has a job, which I hope will become permanent before he's off my health insurance this summer (bless you, Obama, for allowing them to stay on to 26). Difficult child is planning on changing his major from poli sci to math, so I'm looking at an additional year in college for him, at least, but he has said that he is opening to returning to counseling for his anxiety and depression. 19 is progressing in the ambulance corps, but after failing or dropping all 13 of his credits last semester at CC, he is now taking only one class this semester. Baby boy is starting the college search but has failed the road test twice, so he is not a happy camper. The other 4 all passed the first time and even I passed on the second try.

H is still petrified about the knee surgery so I am looking into acupuncture for him. mother in law swore by it for her back pain years ago and I actually found it very helpful for my hot flashes when I went through menopause.

I did something big and rather scary. I bought a farm. Not THE farm, but a farm. It's in the Shenandoah Valley. SO and I plan to move there in the near future, buy goats, and make cheese. (Star, do you have a pink tractor for sale?) At present, a neighbor is grazing his cattle on the property. We have an old farmhouse which we are slowly making more hospitable. The kids don't like it much because there is no internet connection, cable or even t.v. The horror! Instead we have lots of trees, flowers, a river, and mountains.

Oooooooh Pigless what a dream. How many acres do you have?
Goat cheese yum. I bought some really nice home made goat milk lotion on my fall adventure back to New Hampshire.
The kids might not be so thrilled but I think it is simply wonderful. Good for you!
