Good morning! I have just a few minutes, while my daughter is doing some work on her own. I have a deer roast and veggies in the crock pot and a fresh snow on the ground, so things are beautiful outside, and warm and fragrant inside. We have been slowly rebuilding our relationship with oldest step-son (hubby's son) these last few months. He seems to be truly off the horrible spice and possibly all hard drugs (still using pot and alcohol) and his attitude and maturity level is so much better! He has been working steadily for close to two years now at one job, and is taking the initiative to go out and get a different (better) one through contacts he has made through work (without quitting his current job before getting another!) All on his own, no nagging or prodding on our part. We have to remind ourselves constantly not to do this! It has to be his own idea or it won't work. History has taught us that much. We have had him over for dinner, football, etc. and he is very pleasant to talk with, and acts the way any normal, responsible person would act. We are actually looking forward to his visits and enjoy his company. We have to restrain ourselves against jumping in and offering help, for instance with a car, as he still doesn't have one, but we know that part of the reason he is doing so well is that he has had to figure things out for himself. This has increased his self-esteem and his belief in himself. Truthfully, we have, in the past, been guilty of not believing in him. We really didn't think he could do for himself. I am amazed at how well he is doing. We are glad he decided to go down the path of good choices, because it could have gone the other way. Not everything with him is rosy, of course, and he still has a ways to go, but it is looking up. I will come back later and post more, but have to get back to work. Apple
