Good Morning Tuesday

G'day, all. Just grabbing a few minutes while dinner finishes cooking.

School's back. Which means easy child 2/difficult child 2 is back at college classes tonight and tomorrow night.
difficult child 3 is still working on his holiday report but taking a long time. A big job, but he may have to work on the weekend so he doesn't fall behind. We've also got a lot of distractions this week - saw the pediatrician today, cousins from Scotland visiting tomorrow - it all takes time out from the school day.

The pediatrician is worried about difficult child 1 - there is a definite increase in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) behaviours plus he's concerned about depression increasing. His Zoloft has been increased. Also, we now have Concerta available on PBS, so he suggested switching the kids over at some stage because it will be a lot cheaper and a lot more convenient. I think we'll wait until the summer holidays for the big switch experiment, see how we go.

It was the coldest morning in Sydney today, for 20 years. And there is a cold change coming through tomorrow, where it will REALLY get cold. They forecast snow flurries for Canberra tomorrow - maybe they meant the Canberra hills, surely not the city - that's like forecasting snow in the CBD for Sydney, or Melbourne... but after being snowed in on holidays and stranded at the airport for days, I think if easy child & BF1 even SEE snow on the hills, they'll be screaming!
Charlotte's Pass was -15C last night. Nasty... and colder tomorrow...

Have you guys finished with summer yet? Can we have a turn soon, huh? Please?

Good Tuesday morning!

Marg, sorry it's so cold. We're only halfway through summer here -- wish we could ship some warm air your way.

We had a lovely day on the lake yesterday. A and M went tubing together. They kept wanting my father to drive the boat faster so they would get higher bumps off the water. Then we went down to the beach, where the girls swam out to the dock. My mother is trying to teach A to dive. She was a little tentative, but made a valiant try. Today is another sunny, warm day so I imagine we will have a repeat of yesterday.

husband and J are suffering with blistering heat at home in Maryland. Plus husband is feeling a little stressed because he has to do all I do plus work at his office. I had to giggle a little when he called me at 9 pm to say he was going grocery shopping. Maybe I'll be a little more appreciated when we return home . . .

Keep it cool (except for Marg). Hi to anyone who snuck in.

Good morning friends,

Marg, I believe I'll hang onto summer a bit longer yet - sorry it's so chilly by you.

SW, husband called & let me know that he appreciated all I did while I was in the hospital. Enjoy your getaway.

I had a horrific night last night sleep & pain wise. I cannot wait to get my doctor's appointment over & kt off to school this morning.

Enjoy your day - keep it calm.

Good Morning All,

Marguerite-I hope you warm up some! I know I'm not looking forward to winter at all and am glad it is still far away.

SW-Sounds like a great vacation! It's nice that husband has a better understanding of all you do!

Linda-I hope that today is more pain free and that you are able to get some sleep.

I hate being up this early in the summer. I wish there was a way to convince difficult child he doesn't need to get one of us up just because he is awake. The latest he ever sleeps is 5:30. It doesn't matter what time we give him his medications at night or how late he stays up; it's like he has an internal alarm clock! husband was up the first hour so I guess I shouldn't complain too much today.

difficult child has a therapist appointment. this morning and then wrestling camp this afternoon. Nothing on my agenda today (besides taking the kids places) other than the health club and a nap. I also hope to get in some reading. :reading: Think I'll grill some steaks for dinner!

I hope everyone enjoys a peaceful day! Hi to anyone who snuck in.

 Good Tuesday Morning Everyone!

Marg, as much as I love the cold and the snow, I think I'll keep summer a little longer - I love the "no school, no schedule, stay up later, sleep in longer" stuff of summer. Sorry difficult child 3's issues are on the rise - hope things settle soon .

SW, sounds like you guys are having a wonderful time! You husband is in for a little relief from the heat /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hot.gif - I just heard on the weather that we will have low humidity and temps in teh 80's over the weekend. Nice to be appreciated.

Linda, sorry you had such a rough night. I hope you havce a better daytime :kisses:

Sharon, can you give difficult child some special "morning projects" in his room for the early mornings? Special coloring books or challenging puzzles? Tell him the rule is he has to play for one hour then he can wake you guys???? Enjoy the rest of your day (and the nap) :salute:

I'll be leaving for the office shortly. easy child has a dentist appointment at 10 and, are you sitting down?, she will be doing the grocery shopping on her way home!!!!!!!!!! She offered and you bet I took her up on it. After that she, difficult child and I are going to the gym. Mom is coming tomorrow for a quick run-through. She is on her way down to Charlotte to stay with her sister who had knee surgery last week. Her exact words "I'll be just stopping in for one night on my way down, but don't worry, I'll stay for a longer visit on the way back up :surprise:"

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning kids. I could have sworn I posted a long good Morning on the Monday thread. Goblins must have eaten it up.

Marguerite, you have my sympathies. It's difficult when it's bitter cold. Of course blistering heat is no picnic.
Sorry to hear that the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is acting up for difficult child 1. At 23, he still sees a pediatrician? Check on the effect of concerta with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) though. I'm not sure but seems to me that I remember that it can worsen symptoms.

Smallworld, glad the girls and you are enjoying the lake. What nice memories for the kids. Nice that husband is struggling a bit. He will appreciate you more.

Linda, I'm sorry you are in pain. In the post I wrote yesterday and obviously didn't submit, I asked what happened? I must have missed something.

Wiped out, hope you get a nap. difficult child had an internal clock also. We never set an alarm clock. Most of the time he slept "in" until 7 but he would go through periods of getting up at 5. He also thought that if he was up that everyone should be up. Well at least one of us. Doesn't our world revolve around the needs of difficult child? Good luck.

LDM,glad the weather is breaking for my visit. It seems I'm always sweating when I look at houses. It's a bit tiresome. Have a good day at work.

I have errands and house junk to do but I may call the dentist. One of my teeth is very sensitive all of a sudden. Ugh.

Hope you all have a good day.

Good morning. :coffee:
Marg- I hope the pediatrician can help difficult child 1 out of this downward shift. Stay warm! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hot.gif
Smallworld- Your vacation sounds idyllic. And poor husband, it's not easy to integrate all the work you do into his responsibilities! I'm sure you are quite missed by now, lol!
Linda- I hope the pain has subsided and you have a much better going of it from here out.
Sharon- Duckie is just starting to sleep a little better lately. I feel your pain! :hammer:
LDM- Too cool about easy child doing the shopping! Can you imagine what Duckie would bring back from the grocery store, lol!
I had a rough night last night and I'm pretty achy today. Luckily I don't have too much on the agenda: just a doctor appointment and grocery shopping. Duckie has a play date, then we might go through her wardrobe to see what she needs for back to school.
Have a great day! Hi to anyone that snuck in. :salute:

Just a quick clarification - in Australia, when your kid has ADHD or similar, the medications can be prescribed by a pediatrician or psychiatrist, both of whom have to specialise in treating it and both of whom have to re registered to prescribe that medication for that child.

Because we just don't have enough specialists who 'specialise' in treating ADHD, autism etc especially in children, we have a lot of pediatricians who have taken this on. And because of the lack of psychiatrists who are prepared to handle this unless the patient first goes to them as an adult, then the pediatrician will continue to be that patient's primary specialist and medication-provider indefinitely.

It's weird, but it's how it works for us. Even THIS bloke, I had to search Sydney for 18 months. I knew of HIM but was looking for someone else first, because our bloke already had a reputation for prescribing these medications to anybody - something which I now know to be not true. It's just that he gets loaded with ADHD/autistic patients in his practice, because there is a general lack of specialists who will take these kids on. And in our case, he was the only one prepared to manage all three kids, indefinitely. We're lucky he's also close by.

A lovely man - but today easy child 2/difficult child 2 asked him if he has to take "Marg medications" before our family's appointment, to help him cope with a roomful of us.
He also liked our description of the slow-release dex for easy child 2/difficult child 2 as her "anti-blonde pills".

I'd better head for bed - have to process our family medical claims in the morning (for today's appointment) and at the same time, talk easy child 2/difficult child 2 & difficult child 1 through processing their own claims. And also talk difficult child 1 through getting his own Medicare number (like Social Security, for us, only health-care linked). Oh joy, oh rapture...

Good morning, everyone! Cubs started their week of Vacation Bible School yesterday. easy child had a great time and wanted to stay the whole day, instead of just the 3 1/2 hours in the morning. We only signed them up for the morning, to give husband a break. Did you guess difficult child didn't have as good a time? He doesn't want to go back today; too bad. He's already not happy we put a moratorium on video games for the week. We'll see how it actually goes today. Hope everyone has a good day!

I hate summer too BBK!

Linda, I hope today is less painful and you get some rest.

Fran, see you tonight!

I'm enjoying a semi-peaceful day today. Only 3 kids right now, the others are at Art Camp. When leaving this morning to take them there was someone blocking the alley, had to attempt to back up into moms driveway, neighbor saw me having trouble with the huge van and offered to back it up for me. I let him, but I feel like such a goober!

Spoke with attorney this morning who seemed apologetic to take my money this month. I reassured her it was the best money we've ever spent. I'm counting the days until appeal time is up.

Pick up kids from Art Camp at 5 and then off to meet two fellow board members for a bite and a drink. Looking forward to the meeting them and the drink part of course! : )
