Good Wednesday morning......

friends & fellow :warrior: parents!

:coffee: My hmj is brewed & smelling very inviting this morning. I've had 4 hours of straight sleep so I feel like I can take on the world today! We'll see how far that goes.

kt is on her 3rd day of spring break & doing fairly well considering the antics over respite weekend. To be honest, she's been more the slug than anything. Tdocs have told me that's okay for now given the lack of beds available at the hospitals around town. The more slug like the better.

I'm supposed to see local neuro doctor this morning. I'm hoping to reschedule this as I head back down to Mayo next week Thursday. I'd like to update him & have him take over treatment when all is said & done at Mayo. The copays alone are kind of killing me right now, combined with the travel & motel rooms. Well, the money part of me is cringing. AND I left it until this morning to think about rescheduling rather than the 24 hour rule this clinic has. :slap::embarrassed: Oh well!

Homemaker is coming in today! Clean kitchen floor!!!!! I'm so excited. Freshly vacuumed furniture in the living room - you know all those little things we take for granted. All the heavy chores that need to be done.

I've prepared a homemade teriyaki marinade & have chicken marinading even as we speak, for dinner tonight. (The secret is sweet mirin wine.) It just sounded so good to me last night I put it together before I went to bed. I'd like to pop out & pick up some fortune cookies & sherbet for desert.

I'm done rambling this morning - just don't have enough "real" people to talk to of late. Enjoy your Wednesday. I hope you finish all you set out to accomplish.

I plan on it! :happyguy:

Good Morning,

Linda-I'm glad you got some sleep even if only 4 hours-you go and take on the world girl!!! Your dinner sounds delicious especially since mine will probably be heat some chicken breasts and put them on a bun. I'm glad kt is doing o.k. on her spring break so far.

Work today, of course, and then I'm finally going to get to the club!!! I sure hope I didn't jinx myself saying that. I need to be there desperately. Things have been so stressful with all that is going on with difficult child at school and all of his appts. lately I have been doing a lot of emotional eating along with not getting to the club as much. Usually I am so good about getting there no matter what (and actually I'll probably still get there 5 days this week-I think it's more that I just skipped two days in a row and have been eating so much).

I hope everyone has a great day filled with some fun surprises!

:good_morning:Good Morning Linda, Sharon and all to Follow!!!!

Linda, you know what they say about great minds - I am having teriyaki shrimp tonight :sushi:! easy child and I fixed it on the grill friday and loved it so much, we stopped and got some more shriimp last night. I just mince some garlic pop the shrimp in a baggie with some terihaki and pop in the fridge for a few hours. Then I put them on scewers and grill for about a minute each side. Yummm! Glad your home will be cleaned today - it's on my agenda today as well. Also cleaning out the bird cages - hate that job. Glad kt is being a slug - sometimes they need it!

Sharon, glad you are getting back to the club. I'm getting a little fed up with the weight loss vs gym. I've been working out four days a week :treadmill:the last three weeks and can't loose a pound! Bonehead tells me "it's coming, those muscles are adjusting, they will wake up one morning soon and say "I'm hungry" and start eating your calories"! Well hurry up!!!!!!

It's a house day for me today. Lots of little chores all around the house. Going to hit the gym first and then hit the house!

Wishing everyone a great day !!

G'day, people.

Linda, I hope you get to reschedule your appointment.
I do a home-made teriyaki marinade too. I change it around a bit sometimes depending on what I feel like. If you haven't got any mirin, you can use sweet sherry. We have a great product in Australia called green ginger wine, I use that instead of mirin. Then I add soy sauce, sometimes I add honey, I often add finely chopped ginger and/or garlic, and sometimes a small chilli. To make it easier on easy child 2/difficult child 2 who doesn't like to encounter small 'hot spots' I puree the lot, including the chilli, ginger and garlic, so it's all in the marinade and nicely even.
Sometimes I store the marinade in the freezer, but often I pan-fry the pieces, remove them, pour some of the marinade into the pan, simmer it down to a syrup then put the meat back in to glaze with the syrup. Any leftover pieces go in the fridge to be served sliced, cold, with salad in wraps.
easy child 2/difficult child 2 likes to do teriyaki fish in foil parcels baked in the oven.

Sharon/Wiped, I hope you get to your exercise. You need to find some other ways to de-stress.

Sharon/LDM, the shrimp sounds lovely. I saw a recipe for shrimp on skewers - they used a stick of lemon grass as a skewer. I haven't tried that one but it looked tasty. ANd about the weight - what does the tape measure say? If you're exercising, that could be more relevant than the scales.

I had to see my urologist today. He wants me in hospital for tests and cystoscopy, but I've talked him out of it for now. One more infection though, and I think that will be it. I've got some cream to try (now that I'm menopausal) which might help. Fingers crossed.

Tomorrow difficult child 3 has a science study day at school, so we leave early and fight the traffic. We'll do our shopping on the way home, so it's going to be a big day.

Enjoy your Wednesday.

Good Morning Everyone:coffee:,

Linda, Dinner sounds delicious!!! What time should I come over, lol? I'll bring the adult beverages...:wine:

Sharon, I need to get caught up - I'm sorry things have been so rough with difficult child. I hope you get to the club this evening!!! Getting to the gym will help you curb the emotional eating.:treadmill:

Sharon, Dinner at your house sounds excellent too!!! Since I already am headed to Linda's tonight, what time should I arrive tomorrow, lol? I'm very proud of the excellent progress you're making living a healthy lifestyle!!! You're a great example for all of us who struggle with this!!! Unfortunately, I agree with "bonehead." The weight will come off, you'll see:bigsmile:...

Marg, You're making me hungry!!! Healthwise, I've got my fingers crossed for you. I'm keeping you in my thoughts...

Well, I'm beginning to feel like a "caged tiger." I still can't exercise and have an appointment scheduled with an ortho specialist on Monday as the injured area doesn't seem to be healing. I posted about this in the Healthy Living Forum and am going to head that way very soon...:cool_dog:

My favorite "sanity saver" has been really sick from the antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications she was given after her surgery. I called her vet, was told to stop all the medications, and feed her just boiled chicken and rice for a couple of days. This morning she seems to be feeling better.

On a positive note, even though it's still cold here, it's SPRING and my difficult children are in school!!!

As always, I hope everyone has at least one reason to laugh or at least smile today...:flower: WFEN
