Gulf coast

I need a break.

I am considering packing up wee and heading to the gulf coast for a long weekend in the next month or so. Been toying with the idea for a long time...think this would be a good time to do it.

I can make new orleans in 12 hours, but I don't want to be in the mardi gras crowd. Anyone familiar with that coast along there (or east or west of there)? A good place to go and pick up shells, sit on the beach, just....be?

I've never been... but I hear the Texas coast is beautiful.

Yeah...the place right below Houston ...gosh I cant think of the name...blank mind. Fran had or maybe still has a place there. Oh why is my brain going blank on me...lol.

It is nice though. Small town feel. Nice little beach. Not sure how warm it is right now though.
