HELP for jess, PLEASE!

I second the chiropractor...they are nurologic specialists and while you are looking try the National Chiropractic Association for the specities in your area.
I get horrible muscle spasms that are just unbelievably painful and the AMA is simply useless for that. Maybe a Physical therapist that does massage and streaching would help. Hot tubs and massage by someone who does now and is empathetic.

However if you go to a good chiropractor the first thing they will do is check to see if she is having the type of problem they can treat. The quality of the muscle skelatol knowledge that a chiropractor has over a alopathic physician is just so vast that there is no comparison.

I read some about epilpsy up there as I was scrolling down and the relief for the effect of seizure with massage and chiropractic as well are so worth it . For the person with the spasms. And you will beneifit to when your daughter is feeling relief. How scarry for you, MOM.

Susie,

I'm glad Jess is doing a bit better. I know what you mean about lousy ER's!!! I'm glad you'll page the neuro if needed. I've got my fingers crossed Jess continues to improve and feel better. And, I hope you feel better ASAP too!!! WFEN

I'm glad shes feeling a bit better. My difficult child had her whole thyroid removed due to to a large mass. The surgeons greatest concern was her calcium level following surgery. The spasms (Whole body. Legs, Back!!) Is surely a sign that she might not be producing enough calcium. I am by no means a Dr but am just sharing the knowledge that I did learn from her Endocrinoligist (Surgeon) It is the Parathyroid that produces the calcium. Has she had any testing at all on her thyroid? If you eventually go that route you need to bring up the Parathyroid gland and have them do the appropriate testing. Many of these Endocrine doctors rely way to much on the TSH levels though and send you on your way when you know there is a good possibilty that there is a medical issue that is apparent.

Here is a group link, You can gain allot of knowledge from the members here. They have first hand experience dealing with issues related to their thyroid or lacking of along with the symptoms and what they do to aid in feeling better.

Susie thats what i was saying about the chiropracter. I had gone because i was in such terrible pain, and when i saw my xrays i knew why.

it may be something like that. if something is off with her spine, or any of her bones in back i don't know the names it can cause spasms.

do you have any good ones in the city there??? i'm glad she is feeling better today.

Roll With It
I will have her thyroid fully checked out. But she absolutely CAN NOT go to a chiropractor. Something about her seizures, but the neuro said absolutely NOT EVER!

I also ahve an amazing chiro that has treated my parents for years, and me also. HE is the one who pulled up my MRI and sent me a report on it (far more thorough than the radiologist and neurosurgeons' reports, by the way). This chiro looked at her medical history and said that even if some things are coming from adjustment problems, it is jsut too dangerous to treat chiropracticly because of the seizure disorder. Not all seizure disorders are like that, but hers is.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

My chiro recommends a product called MinTran. I use when I have flareups of Restless Leg Syndrome.

You can order it online at Amazon.

I have Jess in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us updated. How horribly frightening and frustrating.

It sounds like they think on slome level there is an allergy component to always give benadryl. Manster is one of those kids whose allergic system is hugly involved with his overall condition. And when all else fails I do give him benadryl and it works.

BUT, Jess' situation sounds totally different and I hate that these medical practioners in some parts just don't seem to get the complexity of some or our kids.

I'm just rambling, no answers, just lots of concern.

thinking of you xo ML

Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. I hope you and the doctors are able to get to the bottom of the problems.

While all the suggestions you've received in regards to other medications or supplements are great (my first thoughts too!), I would be hesitant to try any further medications or supplements until she has a full work up. You just never know how any further medications/supplements will react with her body, especially while in an episode you're not familiar with.

Good luck on getting in to see the neuro.
