Took me a couple tries to get the hang of using the quick reply box at the bottom of the page when I started, too.

One important suggestion - don't use real names. There might be no problem now, but you need at all times to be able to come here and be honest. You can't do that if you need to vent about a teacher, a neighbour, a doctor or family member who tries to track your posts by Googling your names or where you live.
