Just got back from our state's caucus

Although this probably tells you that I am a Democrat I do not mean this to be a political thread. I just found it tremendously interesting. This is the first time there has ever been a caucus in our state and it was a learning experience for everybody. I live in a small, mostly Republican county so there were less than 100 people there. Everybody had a chance, if they wanted, to stand up and say why they were supporting their particular candidate. After all of the multimillion dollar campaigns and all of the slick ads, I found it really refreshing to hear the ideas of some real people. Isn't this how our system is supposed to be?

This sounds like a great idea- although I'm not really familiar with what a caucus is. I've heard it is where people gather to support a candidate, but how do they decide who gets how many votes?
