If any of you ever watced Law and Order - when Det. Brisco was still acting there was an episode of just this same thing. The parents had a child that was dying and they adopted a third world child for "replacement" parts. It must have been about 4-5 years ago.

What IS true is there are people in Thailand and other very poor countries that sign up to be typed and matched for selling kindeys, eyes and other body parts. A few years ago on CNN they did a report about people who were being part-raped. They would go into a bar and wake up missing a kidney or other parts. They were being sold on the black market. I dont' know if the practices are still going on today - but it was really a shocking and very scary reality.

I have no doubts things like this go on - If a man lived with his daughter for 23 years and sired 7 children with her and no one knew? Things like this could exist.

Super snoop and super smart friend said this is a hoax out of Fla. Came up with some info:

Then you can google "vexes media" and find other nasty stuff.

There are police/law enforcement who make websites to entrap
criminals. That is a possibility here.

But most likely it is someone who
wants to enrage good hearted people.
Whatever you do, don't spend any money chasing down these folks!

Just did a quick google search on Vexes Media. Came across a site called insulting.com that lists all of their websites including the Medical Adoptions one.

Clearly they are people with too much time on their hands and a wish to get lots of people's knickers in a knot about lots of things.

I'd like to take my twisted knickers and ram it....(never mind)...just thinking this for a moment gives me enough satisfaction.
I'm filing this under "it is what it is" and doing the Serenity Prayer. :crazy1:

The "part-rape" story is also urban myth. Round the time of the Sydney 2000 Olympics there was a story doing the rounds of the emails about a bloke waking up after a party in Sydney, in a bathtub of ice with a note saying, "We have taken your kidneys, get yourself to a hospital and onto dialysis if you want to live."
It was believed to have been started by some people who were miffed at the Olympics being so far away geographically as well as being broadcast live at a time when all sensible American citizens are sound asleep. We don't have a black market in organs in Australia because no organs can be bought or sold here. Mind you, there was an Aussie transplant specialist yesterday saying that the government should buy organs such as kidneys from healthy people willing to sell them. It provoked howls of outrage from everybody else.

Sometimes a news story will pick up a spam or hoax and publish it as fact, because they haven't checked Snopes first. And yes, it is theoretically possible that it could happen in some countries where organs can be sold, but only in countries where questions don't get asked and it's most unlikely that tourists would be targeted - too much chance of problems for the organ trader.

On the subject of who comes up with scam spam like this - I have a ratbag neighbour who delights in being confrontational and saying the most outrageous things online, to see who falls for it. I think he sees himself as smarter than they are, when people take him seriously and attack him. "They are so stupid - they can't see it's just a joke!" He does it because I think deep down he knows he's not as smart as he makes out, and it makes him feel superior. I've watched him floundering in a conversation with witty people, trying to also be funny and failing miserably.
I now have good friends who refuse to have anything to do with him because he's learned what pushes their buttons and gets them upset. For example, with a friend who is part-Jewish, he keeps telling her the Holocaust never happened.
I make a point of not reacting (I've had a lot of practice over the years) but in his attempts to upset me, he has given me a lot of material to write about!

Way To Go, Nomad and your savvy friend!
Marg, I think you're right about that guy; it makes him feel superior. So sick.
