MRI Results - UPDATE

I have the results from the MRI. None of it is good. The looked at the cervical vertebrae.

One disc is herniated in 2 directions, basically just gone.

2 other discs are herniated.

The vertebrae themselves show substantial degenerative changes.

The first recommendation was that I go see the doctor who operated on me 10 years ago. He was in another state, retired 2 years after my surgery and dies a few years after that.

Anyone want to help me with a seance? That may be the only way I can get a doctor to treat this. The neurosurgeons that my doctor usually sends people to only take patients who have never had any neurosurgery. (Hence my seance question).

The nurse is really sweet. She is making calls today to see what doctor she can get me into that won't just make me leave because someone else already operated on me.

Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts. I appreciate them.

 Bleck!!!!!!! What kinda news is that? I am so sorry!
Surely they will be able to fine a dr to operate? I mean, that just does not sound right to say no one can help you!!! Have you tried the big city of Dallas? I know there are more docs down here to choose from, specifically at SW Medical School, some of the best!

You will be in my thoughts. Hang in there. :frown:

If your previous doctor passed away what difference does it make? I mean I can understand them not necessarily wanting to "mess with" someone elses work, but the guy is dead for pete's sake. I don't think they're gonna hurt his pride or anything.

Keeping fingers crossed and saying prayers a doctor can be found.

The nerve of that former doctor to die!!!!! This is so goofy. I hope the nurse can convince a new doctor, that old doctor will not rise out of his grave to complain about operating on you!

Susie,

Sorry. Really sorry. Somewhere in Texas there is supposed to be a premier neurological back specialist clinic. A gal that used to work with me here in SC sent her brother there years ago. I have no idea what the name is - maybe if you're interested someone from here TX wise can tell us.

Fluffing your back pillows as we speak.

Hugs

Check out their clinical trials---are any of them a fit? Would be a great way to get the treatment you need if you are close to any of their facilities.....

Not that any part of this is funny by any means, but what you said above made me laugh.

On another note: I hope you find someone who can help you. You must feel very helpless at this point.

Sending some supportive hugs and thoughts. I hope you're able to find a doctor who will not only do the surgery but will enthusiastically do it and help you on the path to your recovery. There has GOT to be a DR out there somewhere who will be willing to do this. It's not like DR's don't ever die....that doesn't even make any sense.

Hugs~

ps: My sister just had back surgery for 2 shattered disks in her lower back. She had refused to have surgery prior and then they eventually shattered and she was forced into the surgery and she's doing very well now. I hope yours has a happy ending as well. ♥

Susie I am so sorry for your news... someone has to be able to do something!!! husband has Ankylosing Spondylosis and Spondylysis... which is debilitating and usually ends up crippling... we have gone through the gammit of docs.. one says surgery a must... one says hold out until you can no longer bare it (which is what he is doing) or can no longer walk.
For him the only thing that allows him to get out of bed some mornings is, yoga, pilates and accupuncture.

I watch how this horrible thing affects every aspect of a persons being... no-one really understands how much so until they live it. I am truly sorry you have to go through this.
It takes away your ability to function, neck or back pain at these levels... what type of surgery do they propose for you? If you could find someone?

Hang in there. Thinking of you.

Thank all of you. The painis terrible, there are many things I have not been able to do, but it WILL get better.

The nurse called me at 6:30 last night. She made an appointment with a neurosurgeon for early Oct. I am so thankful.

I think it may be a liability issue as for not seeing another doctor's patient. Not sure, but it seems dumb to me.

Have a great day!
