Name that artist

Ok, I'm bored so I thought we'd play a game. Plus, I get songs stuck in my head ALL THE TIME. And usually, they're just out of nowhere...songs I haven't heard in ages. A lot of the time, I only know like 2 lines, don't know the name of the song or the artist. Any idea how annoying that is? Especially when it plays over and over and over and over and over...you get the idea...in my head.

So, jot down a few lyrics and the person beneath you (the person who posts beneath) names the artist or band, then includes their lyrics.

by the way, googling the lyrics is cheating.

This is the one that has been stuck in my head for the last TWO days.

In the white room
With black curtains
Near the station

That one shouldn't be too hard.

Like "White Room" a lot but was never really a Cream fan.

Here's mine:

I remember every little thing
As if it happened only yesterday
Parking by the lake
And there was not another car in sight

I was never a Cream fan, either, but always did like that song.

Yours was Meatloaf, Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. Awesome song.

Here's mine again:

Two days past eighteen
He was waiting for the bus
In his army greens

Let's see ... in the C/W genre I know Waylon, Willie, Johnny, Travis, Garth, Tammy, Patsy AND the DIXIE CHICKS!

Made me think. Hope this makes you think a little:

The screen door slams, Mary's dress sways
Like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays
Roy Orbison singing for the lonely
Hey, that's me and I want you only

hmmmm...it's there somewhere in the recesses of my memory. I'm going to have to think on this one a bit.

Next four lines:

Don't turn me home again, I just can't face myself alone again
Don't run back inside, darling you know just what I'm here for
So you're scared and you're thinking
That maybe we ain't that young anymore

(and I'm off to bed -- good luck!)

Oh! Oh! Oh! I was playing Pogo and BAM it just hit me. Is it Bruce Springsteen? Ok. Now I'm doubting myself. But, I'll go with it for now.

Try this one:

Feeling better now that we're through
Feeling better 'cause I'm over you
I learned my lesson, it left a scar
Now I see how you really are

Heather, that's cheating! Too many artists have done that song but I'll go with Linda Ronstadt's version but since you did start with Cream, you probably went with Van Halen's. Trying to remember if Bonnie Raitt did a version of it, too, but drawing a blank.

Hope you're getting some sleep. Wished I were.

Okay, your (or someone else's turn):

She's been playing in a room on the strip
For ten years in Vegas
And every night she looks in the mirror
But she only ages

Fran

Former desparate mom
Thunder road by The boss.

You're no good by Linda Ronstadt.

I'm not so good at this but husband is a bit of music buff.

Have any of you seen the new show called Name Those Lyrics. It's pretty neat.

MeowBunny, yours is Babydoll by Pat Greene?

"I know you feel so empty
And our house just ain't a home
I'm always somewhere else
And you're always here alone..."

BBK, you do like Gene Simmons, don't you?

Get the feeling I like music a bit? Sure glad I like lots of different genres. But I hate to admit it, Marie got that one.

Here's my next one:

You're talking it all sounds fair
You promise your love how much you care
I'm still listening and still unsure
Your actions are lacking, nothing is clear

Abbey

Spork Queen
I won't play as this is what I do...music. But, you've had some great ones!

Spending all my nights. all my money going out of the town
Doing anything just to get you off of my mind

But when the morning comes and I"m back where I started again
Trying to forget you is just a waste of time

Abbey,

"Baby Come Back"?...Player, isn't it? OMG...I can't remember what I did yesterday, but give me lyrics and I can remember what I was doing specifically when they were playing in my youth!! This one imparticular will always remind me of being 19 and the love of my life, Dave, at that time!!!

This is fun...

Okay, here's mine:

Lord, I was stunned shoulda' seen it come a long time ago.
When I realized the reality gave me a roll
If things are the same then explain why your kiss is so cold
and that mist in your eyes feels like rain on the fire in my soul

If anyone gets this, I'll be amazed!!

Vicki...you have the right song, but not artist.

Here's another. I use this almost every event. Everyone knows the song, but no one knows the artist. I use this for trivia all the time.

I don't remember what day it was
I didn't notice what time it was
All I know is that I fell in love with you
And if all my dreams come true
I'll be spending time with you

I didn't know anyone other than Linda Ronstadt had done that song. I've never been a Van Halen fan - didn't know they did it. Sorry! :bag:

No More Words by Berlin?

Try this one:

You packed in the morning, I stared out the window
And I struggled for something to say
You left in the rain without closing the door
I didn't stand in your way.

(The original artist. I rarely care for remade versions.)

I prefer Randy Vanwarmer's version. But, like I said there are very few remakes that I like as well as the original. I think it's because of the memories associated with the songs.

And since you mentioned it, I'm thinking that Bonnie Raitt did do a version of 'You're No Good'. Linda Ronstadt's album with that song came out when I was a wee little. My mom's friend had it and everytime we went over to her house I asked to play it. If I remember correctly, the album jacket was black and the lyrics were printed in pink. Funny what we remember.

Did BBK not get your other lyrics? I thought she did. I have no idea on them, nor on Abbey's.
