Recommendations on dealing with PTSD or equivalent

This involves multiple people with various flavors of PTSD or some equivalent (i.e. not necessarily a single event, but a long-term series of events that produces the same symptoms) - each a stand-alone case.

therapist isn't an option, due to cost, and due to the fact that two of these people simply do not trust tdocs. (bad prior experiences)

So... can anyone recommend some good books to help us work through this stuff? Or some good web-based info? Or some good real-live how-we-survived stories?

I need it for myself. Part of my PTSD is my inability to want to talk about my PTSD (but hey, at least I know that). The EMDR thing looks interesting. Anybody ever use it? I HAVE to find a therapist because the thing that caused it is part of a lawsuit now.
