Sore Tonque Remedies??????? Weird!

DDD

I don't know if I have a cut or what. My tonque is sore. It seems like I can't just get the darn thing to lay down and stay
out of the way.

It does not have "a head", looks dark like I cut it or poked it
and all I can think to try is baby teething numb jel. Warm tea
makes it feel better but then again, so does ice cream...lol.

Any ideas?? This is day three and it is neither better nor worse
but I am getting to be a very fussy lady. :surprise: Gee, I used to be so nice! DDD

Try "Cloraseptic" spray (it'll numb it) or baby teething gel. Then if you see that the tongue has a coating on it (like a whitish film) eat yogurt with active cultures. If you've taken antibiotics recently, you might have a little touch of thrush.

Hope it helps!

You are still nice, DDD! Hope this clears up soon but if not, I wouldn't mess with it....I think mouth-infections should be dealt with quickly?

Be fussy! Fussy is good!

Peace

In my experience whenever having a sore in the mouth (bit inside of cheek, pizza burn on the roof) that it is super tender and annoying for a few days - but then magically it is gone and I have forgotten all about it. If you are still feeling it on Monday I would call someone. It should not take this long to heal.

I say - bring on the ice cream!!! LOL!

Ouchieeeee.

No, I wouldn't mess around either. By Monday, if it's not better, you get your little hiney to the doctor. Pronto. Doctor's orders. lol.

Till then, scoop out Wendy's ice cream she suggested, and pour a little Bailey's over the top of it.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Hugs,
Deb

OK, you are making things WAAAYYYYY too easy for a smartass like me to come up with wisecracks...a sore tongue, hmmm...

Seriously though, gargle with warm salt water and dab hydrogen peroxide on the "ouchie" part.

If it's not gone by Monday I'll ...er...ah...eek...act like a grownup and call someone.

Meanwhile, I'll do warm salt water before bed and after I pig out
on ice cream with a touch of Baileys (for decoration, of course).
Tomorrow I'll opt for chloraseptic but I'm going to skip the yogurt and the hydrogen peroxide. Those last two do NOT sound
appealing...lol.

thanks, DDD

Could it be a canker sore? If it is, it will get a white scabby thing on it. They hurt like HECK! Believe it or not, Sauerkraut juice is what helps me with mine.

PS...

I did go to the doctor once about the canker sours and he said "Yes, they hurt, don't they?" There's no medical treatment for them. Something OTC called "cank-aid" but it didn't really didn't help. I also had a string of three of them under my tongue once when I saw the dentist. Couldn't swallow or anything. She said they were the worst she ever saw. They last at least two or three weeks.

try gargling with beer. Beer helps kill germs.

If it doesn't clear up, call an Ear Nose and Throat specialist. I had a sores on my tongue and the regular doctor couldn't figure out what it was. The minute I opened my mouth, the ENT knew it was fissures. I have a geographical tongue (splits and cracks....pretty ugly) and some brand name ice tea that I was drinking irritated my tongue and caused fissures.

He gave me some Lidocaine gel that I use when the irritation starts and it goes away. I rarely ever have the need to use it now, since I avoid the things that bother it, like bananas, scallops and SUPER garlicky stuff.

That's an understatement!!! I used to get them all the time, and the only thing I found that helped the pain was Orabase B. It comes in a paste (gross, but I didn't care) and a gel. All the other OTC medications I tried did nothing but make them hurt more. After difficult child was born, I rarely get one, and even if I do, it's nothing like it was before. Ironically, difficult child gets them as bad as I used to have them.

Don't canker sores have a white top?????? I haven't had one in
fifty years so I don't remember. (Heck, I don't rememer what happened 50 minutes ago.......lol)

This looks like maybe I bit it with one or two side teeth during
the night. NO! I was not dreaming of Raoul or Senior Raoul
either!

Beer sounds like the best solution so far! Way To Go, Loth! DDD

I'll have to try beer. Yeah, DDD, they have a sort of scab that develops after about a week, and since it's wet in your mouth, it is white. Mine usually look as though I have bitten myself, long and narrow. But I haven't. I can usually tell because they cause pain in swallowing, like a sore throat, if they are low, or pain like an earache if they are up higher.

I found this article on different types of sores on the tongue and mouth from Colgate. It's better than the medical articles with those ghastly pictures!

If your tongue is at all white on it, then I would suspect a yeast infection. The fact that it is still sore makes me think that. Call and get some nystatin liquid. You just swish it around your mouth and then swallow it.

No white. At least not yet. "Nystatin"??? Lordy, Lordy. You
guys know about a bunch of weird stuff...don't ya?? LOL DDD

Thanks for the site, Witz. I don't see "me" in the information
unless...I have been accidentally biting my tonque during the night. I have to laugh...sad to say...because a BIG symptom for
darn near every problem is stress. Hmmmmmmmm. I do my best but
what to hay, I am stressed.

I'll hope that it goes away like magic. Well, maybe with the help of a beer or two..lol. DDD

D3, I swear by dill pickles for most mouth sores. You eat them slowly and let the juice "sit" on the sore area. A couple of pickles a day for a couple of days usually takes care of it. I don't know if it's the salt or the vinegar or the combination but it helps.

I had some hot sauce at a Mexican restaurant a few years ago that I swear burned the top layer of my tongue. It was so painful and took over 6 weeks to feel better. Ever since then I have to be careful not to eat too much salsa/tomato-based spicy foods. For this problem I changed my diet to bland food (no dill pickles) until it got better.

Of course, given the other suggestions I think I'd opt for the beer.

(please call your dentist on Monday if it's not any better)

Hugs,
Suz
