Roll With It
Linda,

I am so glad you are home. I also know someone who had GB. She was fine one day, and by noon the next day was totally unable to move. She made a complete, totally complete, recovery within less than a year. She said the pain and fear were the worst for her.

Morphine is great in hospital, but out of hospital there are a lot of other options.

I seem to remember something about nerve pain with this. Not sure, but it may be worthwhile to ask the neuro and rheumy about lyrica. This is a fairly new medication for nerve pain. Just a thought.

Sending big but very gentle hugs,

Susie

I was given a sample box of Lyrica - it is worth considering or asking the doctor about. I'm not sure if that's the one that also can help you lose weight - or it could be another. Unfortunately, I can't tolerate Lyrica, but I do get weird reactions to a lot of medications, which is a nuisance.

Best bet - get the neurologist to talk to/refer you to a pain management specialist. There are non-drug options too. Also get them both to liase with PT and Occupational Therapist (OT). Whatever they want you to try, has to also be practical!

And while we're at it, have you checked out our link on Sudoku? It saves my sanity when I can't get on this board, or write...

Queen of Hearts
Marg,

Thanks for the input - you've survived a great deal physically & I appreciate your wisdom.

I'm hating feeling so drugged between the vicodin & the methadone. And if I don't take something I certainly cannot function. The next step is seeing doctor next Tuesday along with a trip to the rheumatologist. Already have an appointment with neurologist for my seizure medication check.

My doctor called me yesterday & told me to back off the medication issue for another week or so. Pain management is huge at this stage of the game or I won't be able to do the PT or other therapies that need to be done to get this old body back up & running.

by the way, I love sudoku & have bookmarked that link. Thanks, lady.

Timerlady, I apologize that I had to send you an email but, I was unable to get to a computer to tell you about the shower bench as opposed to a shower chair. (and the grab bar for bathroom and the riser)

Hope you got the email and hope things are at least bearable. I have heard good things about the Lyrica, as well.

Hi Linda,

Really sorry to hear about the GBS. I've been off for too long but wanted to get on again in part to let you know I'm thinking about you and hope you heal soon.
