I'm keeping Duckie out of school in the morning to try to get her an H1N1 shot at a community clinic. We've been desperate to have her vaccinated but there hasn't been any available yet in our community. Please send a good thought that Duckie is one of the 600 to receive a vaccination tomorrow.

Crossing fingers. I personally am not going to get it, but I know many are struggling trying to get it that want it. Hope that not only does Duckie get it, that the wait isn't too long!!

I also vote that Duckie gets a ice cream or some special treat for being a trooper *wink*

I hope she's able to get it too! One less thing you'll have to worry about!

My daughter is a nurse in a doctor's office so she's right in line to catch everything! And what she doesn't catch at work, the baby will bring home from day care! The day he turned six months old she took him in to get the regular flu shot and as soon as they get the H1N1 vaccine in, she's taking him back to get that one too.

Here we go again!
Fingers crossed! I had to take difficult child 1 to a county clinic also because none of our providers have the H1N1 vaccine yet, nor do they have any idea IF or WHEN they will get it. I'm rather disgusted with the whole situation, to tell you the truth. Furthermore, our pediatrician has a recording that says not only are the out of the SEASONAL flu vaccine, they will NOT be getting any more in!!! Crazy. Just crazy.

Thanks for the good wishes for tomorrow... we'll need it. I hope that we'll be in line soon enough if I get Duckie there by 9am for an 11 o'clock clinic start time. Neither our primary doctor nor her asthma specialist will be getting this vaccine in their offices.

The whole process seems very disjointed, I really wish our county health department would take a more aggressive lead in scheduling the public clinics. As it is, this is a clinic through a commercial health services company that decided they needed to step in to start getting people vaccinated in my county.

I feel guilty but I've only told one other parent about the clinic: the mom of of Duckie's friend that is being home-schooled because her asthma is so bad. :(

We can't get regular seasonal flu vaccine up here in N. WI, and according to the dept. of health, there is none "in the pipeline".

I'm going to Chicago for the upcoming holiday and will spend part of it standing in line at a chain pharmacy to get the darned vaccine. No problem with supply of that in Chicago.

H1N1 is very hard to get, though, and only high priority groups even have a chance.

GN- We lucked out that we got Duckie the seasonal flu shot as soon as the doctor's office got it. It's pretty hard to find here too, but I'm supposed to get one next week through husband's office. We'll see.

Good luck, TM. I was going to go for it at our last one but the line started at 8:30 for a noon clinic. By 11am the parking lot was full and cars were lined up on the road. By 11:30 the people line was a football field long, about 3 deep. Wait time was 3-4 hours and they started turning people away at 4 so there was no way to pick my kids up at 3 and make it through.

As scarce as they are I wish they would dissimenate them through the doctors so the kids with risk factors would be able to get them first. All clinics here have been through the county health department--no private sources have received the vaccine.

I wish you luck.
I have been chasing these darned shots all over town. My docs office yesterday ran out of them 3 hours before I arrived for my appointment.

They didnt have any last month when I went to my appointment and I called almost every week after that. I just missed this week thinking I would be there. Sigh.

I was supposed to go on 10/27 to CVS but they didnt get their supply. Then Walgreens got some but it was the same day I was at the dentist and by the time I got out of the dentist they were gone.

I have called the health dept repeatedly but they keep telling me I am not in their groups. They have them for kids and men but not women? WTH?

Well, we got in after sitting outside for 3 hours before the clinic start time. Duckie was very well behaved and even befriended a younger child in line near us. She doesn't seem to be having any side effects except being a little tired, but that could just be from sitting out in the cold this morning.

{{{Janet}}} I can sympathize! I would think you fit into a high risk category due to your meningitis scare last year. Ask your GP or neurologist for a note to that effect.
