G'day everybody. Linda - roll on respite! I read about kt's tantrum. I did my laundry today too. Sharon, dinner and the book club sounds like fun. difficult child 3 got banned this evening, from taking his boogie board to the beach next time. The rule is, he MUST get it out of the car on our return. He's forgotten too many times in the last few days. Despite housework & cooking, I had a quieter day today. I was able to pace myself and rest a bit. Watered the plants - I lost count of how many buckets of tank water I carried, but things were very dry. Later in the afternoon it was back to the beach again, this time taking mother in law. She's getting more wobbly on her legs, refuses to use a walking stick but I think she's coming round to the idea. Having to crawl back up the steps might be doing the trick. It was just us at the beach this afternoon, I didn't have to mind any kids other than difficult child 3, and he's quite capable of looking after himself at a beach he is familiar with, so I mostly sat with mother in law and talked, just occasionally going back in for a quick splash and cool-off. She was enjoying the cool breeze and watching the kids on their boogie boards, or skim boards. The water is still warm, almost too warm. I'm sitting here with the fan going, wishing the house were empty so I could strip off and get cooler. And they say tomorrow will be hotter - I'm so glad we live on the coast where it's cooler, than in the west of Sydney. I'm crock-potting a boiler chook today, I'm wondering how long it's going to take. I'm planning some Turkish recipes tomorrow - beef pide, maybe a chicken pide. Gourmet poverty food again. But if I muck up this chicken, I'll be short some ingredients. I'm a bit rusty with cooking boilers. But the pide should be easy - I can let the dough rise anywhere I want, I don't have to use the oven at the moment, just to let the bread rise. I might make some brioche tomorrow as well. difficult child 1 is coming home with a bigger appetite, his new job is working him hard. I don't like the hours - 7.30 am to 5 pm, 5 days a week plus one weekend out of 4, he also works. No more penalty pay, no more shift loadings. Our new government has not yet had time to throw out the really nasty workplace laws the previous one bulldozed through a year ago. With these laws, you could be told you're working on Christmas Day, but only get paid the standard hourly rate; no public holiday pay or loading at all. Oh well, it's all work experience for him. Enjoy your Thursday. Marg
