G'day folks. What a day! I had a lovely rest this morning while husband took mother in law to the doctor instead (thank you, husband). They got back a couple of hours before I had to go out so we sat together and drafted a letter to the drug company, reporting mother in law's adverse reactions. They needed my involvement with the letter because I'm the one who's been writing emails and making calls on mother in law's behalf, over all these problems. I left about 11.30 am to go collect easy child 2/difficult child 2 for the face-painting job. It was already very hot. I tend to drive with the car windows down and my hair in a turban (to stop my hair tangling in the wind) but it was just too hot, so I had to put the air-con on in the car. But even that was struggling to cool the car enough to make it comfortable. Meanwhile my already-tanned driving arm was getting sunburned. After I collected easy child 2/difficult child 2, we headed slowly to the gig. Stopped on the way to get some food, then as we got closer and realised we were an hour early, we stopped again to get cool (parked in the shade under the store - ANY store, but it happened to be a fabric shop) to eat the food we'd bought (never turn up to a gig hungry, it doesn't look good to eat the party food before the guests arrive). We went in to the store (air-conditioned - LOVELY!) then too soon were back on the road again, the party was only a few minutes away. We parked the car (in the sun unfortunately) and got on with the job. Luckily the host had a good spot in the shade for us. easy child 2/difficult child 2 was a bit worried because it's been a few years since she did a party; but it was like falling off a bike, you never forget how to do it. We painted a lot of faces (child and adult). Funny thing was, the kids were going right from us and into the swimming pool, so the face paint wasn't staying on. After everyone had their fill of face painting, easy child 2/difficult child 2 got out her balloons and began to do her balloon sculpture. She's always been clever with her hands and I don't think the host & hostess realised just how good she was. They were very happy with the work we did, although after the face painting I was just sitting and talking to kids (and slowly packing the car with stuff we'd finished with). Tomorrow I plan to do as little as possible unless it involves the beach somehow. Enjoy your Saturday. Marg
