Good Friday Morning!!

How wonderful it feels to say it's Friday!

We have typical fall weather around here - high 40's, low 50's in the morning - close to 80 during the day. I'm wishing for more like 50's or 60's during the day! Well, at least it's not 105!

Full day here - difficult child gets out early today at 10:40! So I'll return after dropping him off to get some things done around here. I went to our local Apprentis salon on Wednesday and was very pleased with how they cut my hair. While there, I found out the owner and instructor has a mixed daughter about easy child's age. easy child has an appointment with her this afternoon at 1. You have to make sure you have the right person to work on ethnic hair! I have a nail appointment at 4.

Tomorrow I'll be heading up to Difficult Child to attend a memorial service for a cousin who passed away this week. This is one of the reasons my cousin and I here started doing the "cousin weekend". It seemed we cousins, all on my father's side and pretty close as an extended family growing up, now only see each other at funerals........we started gathering the girl cousins every fall for a cousins weekend. This was the youngest cousin on this side of the family. Life can change in the blink of an eye......

I hope your Friday is a good one and you make a great Free Choice!!

Good Morning,

Sharon-Glad you found a hair place you love and one for easy child as well!! I'm so sorry about your cousin. I love that you do a cousin's weekend. We've been talking about doing that with my cousins on my dad's side.

Quick hello this morning. husband and I decided to skip boot camp this morning since we have the long drive to Michigan tonight. Tomorrow we're heading to the game!!!

Wishing everyone a peaceful day!

Good morning friends.
Sharon, I'm sorry about the loss of your cousin. Hugs.

with-O enjoy the game. Hope you and husband are going alone. Lot to be said for the money put into a sitter.

I am at my mom;s. She is flying out to Minnesota for her visit to my sister. She will head to NC to my house at Christmas for the rest of the winter. Today I get her to her doctor and the airport. Tomorrow it's closing up the house for the winter. At least it stopped raining. Funny how used to a garage you get.

So far difficult child is doing well enough. husband will see him next week and then I will see him the following weekend. In between sis, stops in at least once a week. Now that he is getting friends, he doesn't really seem to need us too much. LOL. Maybe not quite as much anyhow. We hold no entertainment value that is comparable.

Have a nice weekend.

G'day people.

Sharon/LDM, that's quite a temperature range. I think the family reunion is a good idea, it is a shame when family only meets at funerals. I am very grateful for our family reunion last weekend.
I had to chuckle at "ethnic hair" - it's not always ethnic. easy child 2/difficult child 2's ex-boyfriend (and her current husband, to a lesser extent) have what can only be described as very kinky hair. They've got a crimp like a merino sheep! SIL2 isn't as bad with his hair, the exBF's hair was a shocker, and he didn't have a clue how to look after it. He is a natural redhead, I know they have very curly hair as a rule, but this really was extreme. SIL2 isn't African in any way, neither is my daughter's exBF. But I take your point - we just don't have the need in Australia, for hairdressers to specialise in kinky. But they would have to know what to do, we would have enough kinky hair to need the services.

Sharon/WO, if you'd done boot camp you'd be in sorry shape to do the long drive. Stay safe!

Fran, it's good that difficult child is beginning to manage more independently. Your mother sounds like she's got everything organised for the Grand Tour over winter.

Last day of school holidays today. I had a moderately busy day. First my oncology appointment. I'm seeing them every month at the moment to sort out some side effects from the "anti-hormone pills" treating my cancer. Today I got told, contrary to what I was told last time, that I shouldn't risk stopping the pills because I'm too young to risk 'feeding' any possible stray tumour cells. But they might change to another medication instead, depending on the second research team - a new mob.
Second appointment - the new mob, the second research team. This was at a different hospital, a specialist women's hospital in the centre of Sydney. They're looking at some rather intimate and distressing side effects (the same ones I've been complaining about) in my current medications, trying to find alternative ways to treat them. But after a detailed exam, I don't meet the criteria. And I'm already doing almost everything I could be doing. They gave me two more things to try, but it looks like I need to go back to my gynaecologist to sort out a few things. Yet another specialist!

After a bit of discussion with the parking station payment people (I HATE parking at that place!) I got out of there and headed home, arriving mid-afternoon. I got some gardening done, finally planting p some vegetables and herbs in the intensive vegetable bed husband put in for me and which I neglected all winter to take things easy with the cancer treatment. He dug over the garden bed the other weekend, and now it looks very promising. I have a large, plentiful tomato bush in the centre which I still need to feed up a little.
The new hens are enjoying a new lease on life. I surprised them enjoying a sunbathe today, they're scratching up the chookhouse (which needs to be turned over, I like to let the chooks do it) and learning to get out for their afternoon walk when I open the door in the afternoons.

Then it was down to mother in law's as usual to cook dinner. While we were there tonight watching TV with her, I made my lunch for tomorrow (chicken sandwich - no chicken I know personally). I have a writers meeting tomorrow and there is nowhere we can buy food. So being able to eat a sandwich as we work will be welcome.

Enjoy your Friday.
