I'm afraid of my difficult child

I completely understand the lack of motivation with these kids as teenagers. I am dealing with the same thing. It is maddening, disheartening, and scary. My son is dealing with agoraphobia, in addition to being "afraid" of life (my words, not his), and I constantly wonder how this is all going to pan out. How do you motivate a kid like this? How do they cope and manage their anger in the real world? How do we help as parents? And when do we step back?

I understand all of these feelings, and unfortunately I do not have any answers. Maybe someday, when I have crossed to the other side of this with him, I will be able to post with more wisdom. For now, I can only say, I understand, and feel your pain. You are not alone.

Hang in there, and stay strong.
Peace,
Willow
