We have RAIN, RAIN and more RAIN! The sun usually goes behind the clouds the 1st of October and doesn't come out until April (if we are lucky). Oh, the sun peaks through every so often just to remind us that he is there. But we don't have a lot of cold. And the fact that we've had several weeks of beautiful sunshine makes me nervous. This isn't normal. Our winters have an average highs of mid/upper 40s and lows of mid/upper 30's. Occasionally, we get maybe 2-3 days during winter that it's really cold or it snows. So, on those days, everyone stays home. Schools around here close if there is an inch or two of snow. Because the snow almost always turns to ice, most of the roads get closed because the hills are too steep to get up or down. There are 3 different ways to get to my folks home, two of them close when it gets icy and all three are within 2 miles of their driveway. But, there is a plus side to all of this. Because of all the talk about the bad winter, husband didn't like the idea of me being alone for it. So, since two of the Naval bases around here joined, he was able to transfer from one to the other and will NO LONGER TRAVEL!!!! No going to Japan or New York or anywhere ever again! (unless it's for a personal vacation).
