Last I heard, County MH was planning on sending a person to our home to work on "training the parents" to get difficult child's "behavioral issues" under control.
After posting about it here....and reading various opinions...I've been getting myself ready to go through this, but prepared to see little improvement in difficult child.
Because County MH was 'handling the situation", the State was prepared to close our case...and it looked like that was it.
Well, well, well....
Turns out that County MH does not actually offer the in-home service. And the County MH director just planned to refer difficult child to another agency and wash her hands of it.
Surprise, surprise (NOT) - this other agency has a long waiting list of their own. So there's no way that difficult child can even get an appointment to see one of their intake people for MONTHS....and then there's no guarantee that the agency would accept difficult child as a client, much less help her.
So State Regional Manager was none too pleased to hear about this. Caseworker contacted me to see if we would be interested in services while County MH was trying to get difficult child to this other agency? Of course!!!
Caseworker thought maybe we could get difficult child into some kind of summer program - camp, club, maybe even help her find some kind of summer job -
BUT State RM thought that was not good enough...
So State wants to send a specialist to work in our home at the direction of our therapist to ensure that difficult child actually follows through with the things that are discussed in therapy. IOW - if therapist tells difficult child she wants her to take her medications every day - this person will come to the home and make sure that difficult child is medication compliant. If therapist tells difficult child that she is supposed to be writing a journal about her feelings every day - this person will make sure difficult child does that. If therapist wants to make sure that the family is working on different issues - this person will come to the house to help facilitate that.
Whoo-Hoo!!!!!
But, now that this is the proposal...there needs to be another meeting to decide how to implement the plan and the treatment goals.
Well, I can do another meeting standing on my HEAD if it means we will finally get some REAL help!!!
