Hi! I haven't posted here in years. I check in when I can though.
I have a 10 yr old son who is having trouble in school. He is diagnosed ADHD H/I type and ODD. I have my thoughts about bipolar, but his psychiatrist just blows me off. difficult child had his tonsils and adenoids out in Sept. After he was recovered he was having great days at school. And now he is not. I've gotten calls on Mon and Wed asking if he took his medications. Both days he had, but he was behaving like he didn't. Being loud, won't stay in his seat, throwing erasers, making weird noises, inappropriate comments etc... Just out of control. He currently takes adderall xr 30 mg and zoloft 50 mg.
Called his psychiatrist's office today and told the nurse what's going on and she suggesting switching him to vynanse. She said they've had great success with-that one and fewer side effects. Just wondering if anyone here has any feedback.
Had difficult child's annual IEP meeting on Wed. It upsets me so bad to hear the things he does first hand. I just wish he could blend in amongst his peers. His resource teacher has brought in a behavior specialist to try to help them come up with-a better behavior mod plan. They said it's hard because they can't figure out the trigger point for him. And he's so unpredictable. Mon/Wed were bad days. And Tue/Thur he had good days.
Another thing that makes me go hmmm is that this time every year his behavior goes down the drain. I can remember this happening since he was 2 yrs old. I can't figure that out. I've pointed it out to the doctor and he just looks at me. UGHH
The school wants to see about getting him accepted in a day school. It's affiliated with-a mental health place here. The public school system is affiliated with-it too. Only 40 children are accepted at a time. So even if he gets approved no telling if there is an opening or when there will be on. I'm trying to call the place myself and see about getting him an appointment with-their docs. Not sure if my insurance will cover it though. They have a contract with-the place we go to now.
I'm also very concerned about him entering middle school next year. At the IEP meeting they weren't very positive about things there.....
Sorry if I'm rambling, I'm just at the end of my rope right now!! Add to the fact that my husband has had 2 back surgeries since May I'm mega stressed!!
