    Questions about autism spectrum disorder

Thank you, everyone, so much. My son just doesn't feel or want any help to transition into the adult world. He feels like most teens....that he knows it all. He is very set in his belief that he is leaving home the day that he turns 18. (He doesn't graduate until a week after.) As far as my...

    Questions about autism spectrum disorder

Mine has the mood swings, violence, ups and downs. He has been assessed 3 times in 3 different hospitals. He can be the best kid on the planet. Then the medications wear off and "hello, Mr. Hyde." We have another appointment with a new doctor that is highly recommended. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    Questions about autism spectrum disorder

Thank you. I don't want him to join the military. I was shocked to here that they would even think of taking him. I'm steering him to complete the machine shop course that he is taking in votech. He doesn't want to quit school. He has a part time job. He is in JROTC at his high school. He does...

    Questions about autism spectrum disorder

This is a relatively new diagnosis for my son. So I have questions. When he takes the medications, he is a great kid. When they start to wear off, ugh. He can talk about crazy things or even get violent. Is this normal? He doesn't mind taking his medications, when I'm with him. But, if I'm not home...

16 Year old son is having multiple issues

Unfortunately, anything any adult tells most teenagers will not get through to them. If there is someone that your son looks up to that will talk to him, that might help. When you and his mother divorced, do you remember the empty (what the heck) feeling that you had? For awhile, you probably...

16 Year old son is having multiple issues

As a former abused women. I can tell you, right now the future is not on his mind. The here and now is what he is thinking. He was stripped of his dignity. She has convinced him that he is nothing without her. By adding sex, drugs, and whatever else, she has brainwashed him. I can't image going...

ADHD and ODD and depression at my wit's end

I'm pretty new too. But, many of us here, believe it or not, can relate to you. My kids are 12 years apart. When my son was 12 years old my daughter had a child. I was out of work for a short time; so, I watched my granddaughter during the day. I was so scared my son would hurt her. But, I...

    what did he do?

Well, so far, it's another tardy from school. That's it. Maybe, whatever he did hasn't been discovered yet. Anyway, he's acting some what like a "normal" teenager. It's coming...I know it.

    what did he do?

Ok. So, I know as parents of these little darlings that we have, we live for that perfect day. Or do we? Here's how the day went. I left for work. He got up and went to school (on time). I got home from work. He was all smiles and wanted to spend time together (who the h__l are you). We went...

Having a hard time being nice

I affectionately have nicknamed the unknown situation. ..Sybil. (If anyone remembers the movie.) I'm never sure which one I'm going to be dealing with.

    Question

I feel your pain. Why does it seem like we (as the parent that stayed with the child) gets the butt of it all; when the one that's not around gets more respect then we do? Most cops hate dealing with juveniles. The laws protect the kids so much and there are only so many things that they can...

Having a hard time being nice

I'm new to the site. But, God it feels good to know I'm not alone. My terror (I mean son) is 17. Last year he was given the diagnosis of autism spectrum. For years before that it was adhd/odd. He can become so violent and wants to test me at least 5 days out the week. Everything is always my...
