If it took them an hour to stop screaming at me then they stayed in there for an hour screaming and then spent x amount of minutes silently. If they trashed the room fine. They had to clean it up when the time was over.</p><p> </p><p>Times when the child did something that warranted an automatic time out then they werent given warnings they were simply sent to their room and told what you did was a 3.</p><p> </p><p>It put them in a safe place for the time and gave me time to recover a bit.
