[QUOTE="timer lady, post: 312187, member: 393"] [SIZE=3][FONT=Comic Sans MS]kt & wm always came home from Residential Treatment Center (RTC) more balanced & settled. It lasted from a 1/2 year to now 2 - 3 years in between stays (except for this year). I worry for our kids - especially those in the foster care community or the adoptive community. Apparently, counties are pushing for more in home help even though with all the services I have here we have still needed these facilities to break the downward spiral as only the staff at these treatment centers could do. These centers have worked with families & their children since 1924. The child guidance clinic will still be in existence (our psychiatrist will still be around). I worry for the exceptional foster care section of this foundation. These parents are some of the best. As of yesterday no more names were being added to the waiting list & the staff are working on getting the kids in the centers thru as much of their treatment plan as they can. I think it's a huge mistake & short sighted thinking on all concerned who made this decision. As with many other diagnosis's dealt with on this board, Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) & PTSD combined are horrendous, have little support & a poor prognosis. Closing date shouldn't affect kt's treatment plan as her discharge date is late January.
