Thanks everyone! SW, thanks so much for your advice. Do you think ALL teachers should be in this meeting or just the ones he is struggling with? This SO was much easier in elementary school when there was just one, maybe two teachers to deal with! The resource class was mentioned to me last year, but he would have to give up orchestra to do that. Doesn't seem fair. I am worried that if I don't at least get the IEP evaluation request in writing NOW, nothing will happen until highschool next year. It will take 30 days just for them to respond to the letter. By then we're at the end of March. Testing might not take place until April or May (I know, I'm just guessing). In the mean time, he could already have his private evaluation (they're telling me April is when we can get in). And when the school is ready to do their test I can ask them to NOT do certain tests depending on what the private evaluation covers. At least that's what I was thinking... That's another reason I called the neuropsychologist's office yesterday to find out how best to coordinate the school's testing with theirs.
