No IEP, just a 504 plan, and it addresses things more in regard to having him sit up front so he can pay better attention. Clearly, something's not working. He's not allowed to have the phone on during school hours. He has a planner and he's on a contract to have it signed by each core teacher to ensure he gets the homework assignments written down. But he's taking an inordinate amount of time (for whatever reason) to finish things in class for his Computer Applications class, and in his physical science class he was working on the wrong stuff in class and consequently running out of time to finish things. Of course, it's hard for me to know this since I'm not there and all he tells me is he ran out of time. And I wonder sometimes if he's eating enough during the day because of the ADHD medications. That would certainly affect his thinking and focus. But how do I support and/or monitor THAT? How do you guarantee a 14yo eats during the day, short of meeting him for lunch? Argh.
