I need to go back and read these posts slower. Lots of truth and wisdom here. Our daughter always makes the holidays, Christmas in particular difficult. She tends towards depression at Xmas and takes it out on her family, particularly me. For the last few years, I get a script for a few tabs of a tranquilizer for myself in preparation for her visit. I have already “armed” myself. And I’ve posted here a few times due to her peculiar and agitating behaviors. We had improvement last year when we put her up in a hotel. :) We probably do have too high expectations...but then again, the rest of the family tends to be chipper at Christmas. So she is a Debbie Downer to the 100th power. I’m so appreciative of this site and the help I’ve gotten here...as sometimes she really is over the top. We do give too many gifts...although that is more my husband’s doing who just loooooves Christmas. I make some traditional foods and I promised our daughter some extra favorites just for her. I hope this will cheer her up. Unlikely...but I will try. Simple sounds nice. One of my best parts is a nice breakfast and opening a few gifts together. Makes for good memories.
