I'm a chronic insomniac...have been for as long as I can remember. Add this with my night owl tendencies, even if I get to bed about 11:30 pm, I'm lucky to get 4 hours of sleep on a good night, which makes it nearly impossible to hear the phone ring at 5 am, so I miss a day's work. About a month ago, I was so tired of being tired that I asked my doctor for something to help me sleep, because I just can't shut my mind off and relax. I was in the middle of something, and didn't take my Ambien, it's 5 am, and I'm rambling after playing games on Facebook all night. I went to bed about 12:30. It's hot. Left side uncomfortable. Right side uncomfortable. Back...maybe. Pillow lumpy. Adjust, adjust...OK. But because it's summertime, the windows are open, and...I hear EVERYTHING. The neighbor closing a door. Sirens blaring. Dog barking. Panther teeth crunching food. Hubby snoring. The weird squeak and rattle from the ceiling fan. Car starting. Tell myself to breathe and relax. Weird song...doo dah, doo dah...what? Oh, yeah, Camptown Races...Mom used to sing that. Why that one? I have got to clean this house. I don't even know where to start. I'm so overwhelmed. There goes that clown on his motorcycle again. Wish he'd slow down. It'll take forever to clean out Miss KT's closet, and then I'll have to wait for Hubby to build the walk-in, and we probably can't afford it anyway. Our class reunion's in two weeks...where did I put that dress? Is it August already? I haven't ordered the food yet for Miss KT's birthday party. Hope there's enough in the bank. Dang, that skunk smells awful. Hope he's not too close. Try right side again. No. Back...again. Song..."if you're lost, you can look and you'll find me, time after time." Get up and go to the bathroom. Realize the bathroom really needs to be cleaned. Look at the clock. Go back to bed. And start the whole right side...left side...back thing all over again. Finally get up in disgust and play games on Facebook waiting to get sleepy. Hasn't happened yet, and the Sunday paper just hit the doorstep. The alarm's going off in half an hour because Hubby needs to be at church early and I hate to take two cars. I'm hungry, too.
