Joy and woe are woven fine, A clothing for the soul divine, Under every grief and pine, Runs a joy with silken twine. It is right it should be so, We were made for joy and woe, And when this we rightly know, Through the world we safely go. ~ by William Blake 1800's Nothing hurts so much as to watch a child, whether adult or not, hurt themselves or others. I keep learning more and more to let go - hands off, heart on. What those on this site do is provide solace, wisdom, vulnerability, honesty, nonjudgment, and hope. Not necessarily hope that all will be well, but that we can be well. We can love ourselves as much as we love our children. And despite the grief, we can make way for joy. It's an up and down roller coaster with my son: hope and grief together and no contact with my daughter or grandchildren. It hurts, but I choose also to celebrate what I do have: the apple blossoms, a warm breeze, my cat on my lap, and on and on.
