Welcome binksmum....this is most definately a place where people GET IT. Even if you were the only person from your country on the board, I think it would still help just knowing you're not alone. But, luckily you're not the only one from the great land of Oz! I agree with Marg....ODD is very rarely, if ever, a stand alone diagnosis. It normally comes paired with something else...Bipolar, ADHD, some form of Autism. I'm not saying this to scare you or worry you but you do need to get further testing done. I'm not sure of the system down under (Marg would be a great help with that) but you may want to look into testing through a neuropsychologist or maybe a children's hospital that has specialists that deal with neuro or mental issues in children. My son has been diagnosis'd with ODD also but his is just one aspect of the party. He is Bipolar and ADHD so the ODD just kind of tags along with the rest. With what you've said about yours being diagnosis'd with impulse control disorder, I'm leaning towards ADHD but it could be a variety of things AND I'm not at all qualified to diagnose. Just going off of my own experiences. But, that does lead me to some questions that may help us point you in the right direction. What are his issues? Does he rage? Any problems with school either behavior or academics? Who diagnosed him? Were there any devlopment issues? (walked/talked late or early) What kind of a baby was he? Is there any history of mental issues in the family? Is he or has he been on any medications? Are there any allergy issues? You've got a start...right or wrong you have a diagnosis AND you found us! Honestly, while we aren't qualified to diagnose, the combined experience and wisdom that you will find here can put some of the professionals to shame. Welcome! Just watch out for the donkeys, chickens and sporks! (We'll explain that later. hee hee hee)
