The only time I had heart problems was when I was pregnant with Tyler. My heart would race and race, sometimes for hours. It was very painful and after about a week I went to the OB for a checkup. He got pretty angry at me for not calling him and/or going to the ER immediately. I have a family history of the racing heartbeat so I just figured it was no big deal, none of my family members did much about it. I also had back pain and pain in my left arm. As I knew I had a messed up disc in my neck I assumed the pain was that. I ended up being squeezed in to see a guy who specialized in heart problems in pregnant women (who would have thought cardiology and obstetrics would be that specialized??). It did put me into a high risk pregnancy group, and about 2 weeks later I went onto bedrest (well, couch rest really - I had 2 kids at home!) There WAS a problem but it was only during pregnancy and not uncommon. Gcvmom, we LOVE you. We are worried and scared for you. If it happens again, don't get in the car and drive to the ER. Call an ambulance - esp if there is no one at home to drive you. Heart disease is nothing to mess around with. At the very least call your doctor first thing in the morning. Don't worry about "bothering" him on a weekend - he is used to it! Keep us posted often, please!
