Well, husband and I are down South for the Winter, again. Those of you still able to celebrate with your families, cherish that ~ whatever your traditional meal involves, there is a kind of spiritual nourishment that comes from seeing the faces you love around your table that we will not be privy to again this year. I think this will be the last Holiday we spend alone. husband seems to be okay with it, but I miss our family very much. Very much. Having said that (and I woke up this morning thinking about such things, ladies ~ husband is going to get an earful later!), we have already made the traditional turkey dinner once, and will make it again this Tuesday or Wednesday. husband loves turkey. (I really am quite upset with husband, the more I think about this family thing! Grrrr....) We are going to dinner with some other couples who are down here without their children, too. It will be a Southern kind of Thanksgiving, with fried turkey. Each of the couples who are coming is bringing something, and I have been assigned the before-dinner munchies. I started a thread on that, in fact. The lady is a gourmet cook? And I don't want to look like a dork on Thanksgiving. The ladies here have come up with some wonderful ideas, but I am not sure yet which are the things I will bring. What I wish I were doing is hosting a houseful. Didn't we just have a thread on that, too? About how important it is to begin picking up the threads of our lives and making meaning when children are no longer the centering force? Well, I'm sure I probably said something positive or encouraging? But whatever it was I said? I did not mean it. husband is going to be so in trouble when he wakes up. Barbara
