Our Thanksgiving plans have morphed...my son, his girlfriend, and her 3 kids are coming Wednesday night. We have met the girlfriend before, and her teen daughter, but not the two youngest. They are in the process of moving in together. They have been seeing each other for a year and a half. Plus our two adopted granddaughters. We will smoke a ham and turkey breast. Last night I made the sweet potato casserole, prepped veggies for dressing, boiled and peeled eggs for deviled eggs. I learned a trick to get eggs to peel, add one tsp of baking soda to the water, then cook the eggs. A dozen eggs came out looking great and no shells stuck to it, or tore whites apart! Today I will make the mashed potatoes, prep the salads, but not add dressings to last minute, bake a cake and an apple cranberry crumble... Then Thursday, I will cook another turkey breast, this time in a crockpot. Never done it before, but saw it on a Trisha Yearwood show... Will probably need to make more mashed potatoes. My husbands adult daughter, her husband, and maybe some of our adult grandchildren will come about 7pm. First they go to her moms, then his moms, then our house. I offered to fix a different meal, like lasagna or something else...and they said no, they wanted my leftovers. We don't rank in the "who do we spend time with" but first for leftovers. LOL? I guess neither of the other moms are good cooks... Then Friday older Difficult Child will leave with FB guy for Louisiana... Tried to talk to her yesterday about trying to be a good roommate. Picking up after herself, washing dishes, keeping dirty clothes contained and washed so the room doesn't smell. Also not bringing stray animals home. That's a biggy. Hope to survive the weekend, KSM
