We had some issues finding a neuropsychologist. Do you have a children's hospital nearby? Or a university hospital? They usually will be able to point you in the right direction.

Essentially this is a team of docs that specialise in neuropsychological disorders. Abuse in early life CAN change the way a person is wired - but, if bio father had mental health issues (clearly, handed down from gma), there is a genetic history there too (and your depression - does that run in your family, or was it totally situational?). Add the two, and - KAPOW! Ugliness.

My SD is bipolar AND has been abused. And we are going through 9 kinds of Hades. But - she was older than Beanz when the sexual abuse happened. I know what it did to O... And as it turns out, she's NOT DID. There are not multiples, it's whether she gets her way. Now I've heard but cannot quote where, that hearing voices, in bipolar kids, can result from more than normal brain activity. I could be wrong - but it's something to consider.

Out of curiosity... Has she ever tried to talk TO the voices? That's not a professional opinion - that's a wandering wonder.

Also, FWIW? None of our pets like O. The cats learned to hide and hide WELL, and the dog runs and barks loudly. She mostly stayed away from him though.

Hi Stepto2

Absolutely folks with Bipolar can and do hear voices. These are psychotic voices. It is possible that the voice is a psychotic voice. Yes, she talks to the voice, the voice talks to her and the voice will talk to me through her.

Genetics? I think that my depression was situational ( multiple medical issues, lost my job, lost my house, had no $ to care for Beanz) I attempted suicide, just the once, by a severe overdose. I was in a coma, the whole 9 yards and have lingering/permanent brain damage as a result.

As for the perv's mental health? I think he is just a :censored2: pervert. Sorry, my anger slips out now and again. His mom knew he was abusing her and dressed her in 3 layers of clothing as the answer.

Home therapist called and cancelled today, will come tomorrow. Beanz is having a bad day so husband is staying home from work to help out. God I love him!

As we now have legal custody, we can put beanz on our insurance which does cover neuropsychologist ( I checked) and I'll look for one.

I am so sorry for/about O. How are things now? Any clues on what helps?

I promise I won't be as scattered and needy in every post! Buit you all are great and I am appreciative,

Be scattered and needy all you like. The rest of us do!!!

in my opinion, if he is that much of a perv - he has something very wrong in his brain. No sane (mentally healthy) person would do anything of the sort.

O is... O. Right now she's not in our home, her bio mom passed away 10 days ago, and she's pretty obsessed with "her money". (Latest update: http://www.conductdisorders.com/community/threads/just-wow-long.42145/) Refuses medications. Not thrilled about therapy of any sort. We're trying to find an Residential Treatment Center (RTC) for her... But she is 16, big difference.

Tie their laces to keep them from climbing out of the cart... *facepalm* NOW I understand why other parents bought shoes with laces and gave me funny looks when I bought velcro ones. Such a simple solution that I never thought of. I just lift the entire portion of the cart that swings up and let Kiddo climb in (way easier than trying to lift her in when she wants to ride).
