    Methamphetamine/Fentanyl Induced Psychosis, or Schizophrenia?

I'm not sure what a medication wash is, but has she had testing to see what medications her body can metabolize? Both our granddaughters eventually had that testing done and each had issues of either not having specific enzymes, or having too many of an enzyme so medications could not be metabolized...

Update on granddaughter and 3 year old great grandson

I'm not having a good day. Last night right after I went to bed, I heard my phone vibrate and looked at a text from DGD. She wanted to come home. I texted her, ok, but come home right now. She texted back, "ok". We live in a small town. 10 to 15 minutes from any area of town. So I got up...

Update on granddaughter and 3 year old great grandson

Smithmom & lovemysons... thank you for thinking and asking about us! Sorry I haven't responded quickly, but I routinely get locked out...I can read posts, but I can't always respond. We do not want a legal fight or get DCF involved in a custody case. We did that 20 years ago with our...

    Out of control and violent

Have you heard of this program? https://pfd.hhs.texas.gov/long-term-services-supports/youth-empowerment-services-waiver-program-yes Most states have what is called a SED waiver. Severely Emotionally Disturbed waiver. It is a way to get Mecicaid assistance even if the child has insurance...

How to cope after crisis with your child?

Yesterday we went to spring craft and vendor market. I saw a lady at a table with books for sale. It turned out that she was an author and also worked in the school system with kids that struggled with their emotions. She had a book a book called The Road To Explode. It was about a young boy...

    Struggling to function

I agree on the PTSD...I feel triggered often. Little things in the surface, but it is like a flare up of emotions, when things come up out of my control. Like when my great grandsons mom will say she will be back in an hour, then it's a day or two. Or I try to call and her phone is not on...or...

    21-year-old pregnant, we are overwhelmed

Your grandchild will be used as a pawn to hurt you for the rest of your lives. Either intentionally or unintentionally. Let's hope the system works and if she's not capable professionals will step in. I'm living this hell right now... our great grandson will be 4 this weekend. He's been...

Should I get 18 year old out of jail?

It's time to live your life, and let others live theirs... Being in jail may be the one thing that changes your son's future, or maybe he will continue to make the same decisions that will send him back to jail. He still can't use words that shows he took responsibility for his decisions...

It Could All Change In An Instant

I will be praying for your grands, too. I wish we had some legal custody.. This could all change. The parents don't even have a custody order...so we are stuck in the middle because either parent could take him and keep him from us. Or each other. His dad does not have a good track record...

It Could All Change In An Instant

LMS, this really hit home with me. But the last couple of years I have been able to focus on our Great Grandson, because he lives with us. His mom might stop in a couple times a week. But shes not parenting... she did come home about 11pm last night. We don't allow her to have a key anymore...

I'm so sorry. I know you, like most of us, have lowered our expectations. But it still hurts our soul. Ksm

Drugs…I’m not sure it will ever end.

I'm so sorry for your grands...your granddaughter seems like a smart young lady. At 14 people should listen to her! DcF needs to talk to the older kids separately, privately... The system is broken. Breaks my heart.

    Is this still active?

Copa and New Leaf are a real blessing to so many of us here! And so many others, too. The site is not as busy, but this page seems like a group of old friends. Ksm

Drugs…I’m not sure it will ever end.

Heart breaking. But he is old enough to reach out for help...and he knows you will be there for him. I hope he can get enrolled in s hood and have teachers he can trust to get help. Our grandson is 3 and I am scared for him to live full time with either parent. So we keep doing what we...

Drugs…I’m not sure it will ever end.

Have you contacted the DCF office that helped make this transition? Do they have any jurisdiction? How far of a drive is it to take him home? I think I would still, especially when she said she was going to pick him up for a doctor's appointment. Keep us updated. Prayers for you guys. Ksm
