Well, whatever your income, is always a good idea to set aside some canned foods if you spot a sale and or find a coupon, dried goods too. Water, husband and I are saving our milk jugs and 2 liter soda bottles, cleaning them and filling them with water. (if you knew our current water rates, you'd understand why) There are tablets you can get online to preserve it for a long time if you think it necessary. I'm storing it because of high prices and if I run out of money......I'd rather not do without water. Like I said, husband's unemployment runs out in sept. Our funds are very limited, couponing made it possible for me to do, otherwise I'd not have much.......and in my opinion I still don't have much, which worries me. What I'm going to do after sept, I haven't a clue. I may have to start living off my stockpile that soon. I'm not trying to scare anyone into a panic. I wouldn't go pulling money out of the banks ect. Although I haven't had money in a bank in 2 yrs, and I've never in my life kept much in one, like I had much. lol Money goes in, husband and I pull it all out. He pays the bills, I stretch the rest as long as I possibly can. But there is nothing wrong with being prepared for hard times. My grandma was big on such things, so I've always done it naturally without thinking much about it. And we've had to live off my stock piles a time or two which only reinforces the concept. Personally I'd like to take the govt by the shoulders and shake some sense into them, but it's like a multi-headed snake. Too busy worrying about their own agendas to worry about the country as a whole.....let alone the people living in it. They're not the ones doing without, so it's not a real problem to them. phht Even buying one can extra of something, one box extra, ect gives you that much more "just in case". It's what I have to do to keep the sense of urgency at bay because once we pay our bills I don't have much cash to work with. I also go for cook from scratch bulky items......pastas, rice, and beans are a big thing. They're easier to stretch and are cheap to buy. And I'm sorry, evidently easy child paid for the cookbook. 7.00 approx used with 2.00 shipping and 14.00 new plus shipping for the depression cookbook.
