I actually believe, sadly, that he wasn't reported because everyone knows he's a cop and nobody wants to get on the bad side of a cop. I knew a woman who was being stalked and abused by a cop. She called the cops...haha. Guess what? Nothing happened to him. Nobody even talked to him about it. He kept doing it. She had to move far away and hide her identity. People are afraid of cops, especially cops who have maybe been violent. I'd still move this kid away from the man. He got away with it once, it likely wasn't his first beating, and he'll do it again. The kid will be the worst for it unless he sees justice. No matter what he did, he did not deserve a beating and ex doesn't deserve a free pass to do this again. I would tell the doctor straight out, "His father did it." They may NOT ask. I'd make sure they knew. Then they HAVE to report it.
